The King and Queen of Spain departed for an official State Visit to the United Kingdom today.
Their Majesties were farewelled with honors at Adolfo Suarez Madrid-Barajas airport as they set off for London, where they will be greeted on behalf of The Queen by The Viscount Brookeborough, Lord-in-Waiting, this evening.
The trip marks their first State Visit to the UK. The last State Visit from Spain to the UK was in 1986 by King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia. The royal couple will meet with Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II and Prime Minister Theresa May during their 3-day tour commencing on 12 July.
Queen Letizia jetted off in style, opting for her natural white Hugo Boss separates for the short flight north across the continent.
It's a piece she introduced during the tour of Honduras in May 2015 when she combined it with coordinating trousers.
On subsequent occasions, she has preferred to pair the BOSS 'Ileti' top with the matching BOSS 'Valeti' pencil skirt.
Letizia offset the minimalist look with edgy snakeskin accents. She carried her Lidia Faro python skin clutch bag and on her feet she wore the Magrit 'Mila' snake-effect pumps.
Letizia complemented the ensemble with her beloved white gold bezel set diamonds and Australian pearl earrings. They are reportedly a gift from Felipe on the occasion of Leonor's birth.
There was one unfamiliar addition to her outfit today. During the ceremonial farewell, Her Majesty popped on a new pair of shades.
They are the Hugo Boss 'BOSS 0888S' Black Cat Eye Sunglasses (US$170). They have a bold frame and a modern shape, offering a contemporary take on classic feminine style.
The twitter account, The Duke of Brittany @DukeOfBrittany shared this image of Their Majesties on arrival at Luton airport. It seems the weather was not on their side.
Here's another photo shared by the Royal Air Force twitter account.
On a final note, I'm thrilled to be quoted by The Telegraph on my thoughts about Queen Letizia's style ahead of the State Visit. You can read the article here:
