Today was a significant social occasion for the Spanish royal family. The King and Queen of Spain attended their daughter Princess Leonor's First Holy Communion.
The communion was a family affair with Queen Sofia and King Juan-Carlos joining Letizia's parents Jesus Ortiz and Paloma Rocasolano at the service, along with Princess Leonor's younger sister, Infanta Sofia.
The ceremony was held in a simple parish in Aravaca, a quiet neighborhood of Madrid. Spanish royals traditionally take their First Communion alone at the Palace of Zarzuela, but the new monarchs decided it would be best if their daughter received the sacrament with her classmates from the Santa Maria de los Rosales school. There was no chiffon dress, tiara or flowers for the young crown Princess of Asturias. Instead she was dressed in her school inform like all her classmates.
Today, Letizia looked beautiful in a white lace creation by Felipe Varela, the only designer she trusts for such momentous occasions. The collarless lace jacket overlayed a mint green sleeveless sheath dress.
Letizia coordinated the classic Varela outfit with an interesting set of space-age vinyl accessories from Magrit's 'Cristal' collection.
She carried the 'Sly' bag (€150), a clutch made entirely in transparent vinyl and specchio silver on the inside.
Queen Letizia completed the outfit with her TOUS moonstone earrings which worked perfectly with the Varela ensemble.
Despite Letizia's unorthodox choice of vinyl accessories, I still loved the outfit. Only the Queen of Spain can dare to get away with it!
