On Saturday, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain attended the funeral mass for His Holiness Pope Francis at St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City.
Accompanied by the official Spanish delegation, the royal couple paid their respects during the solemn ceremony, which brought together dignitaries and faithful from around the world.
Their presence underscored Spain's deep ties to the Vatican and the global Catholic community. King Felipe and Queen Letizia made their first official overseas visit to Vatican City in June 2014, where they met with His Holiness Pope Francis shortly after Felipe's proclamation.
Following the service, Their Majesties joined the Spanish delegation at the residence of Spain's ambassador to the Holy See in Rome.
Queen Letizia appeared sombre in a black tweed midi dress, a piece she previously wore to the funeral mass of King Felipe’s cousin in April 2024.
Adorning her chest was a combination of the 'joyas de pasar' grey pearl & diamond brooch (shown below on the left) with a dangling teardrop pearl from the heirloom brooch (shown below on the right).
Letizia carried her black Carolina Herrera Victoria Insignia Satchel Bag and on her feet were the Nina Ricci Low Heel Pumps in Black Suede.
During the outdoor service in St. Peter’s Square, the Spanish queen was spotted wearing her Hugo Boss Cat-Eye Sunglasses.
Queen Letizia completed the ensemble with her Ansorena Bezel-Set Diamond and Pearl Earrings—a meaningful choice, as she also wore them during her first meeting with the Pope following her ascension to Queen Consort.
