The Queen of Spain presided over the closing ceremony of the third edition of the 'Santander WomenNOW 2021' summit, under the title 'The world we want', at the Vocento Headquarters, Madrid.
The annual WomenNOW Summit is the most important congress on female leadership in Europe, and over two days it has welcomed fifty figures from politics, activism, science and culture to reflect on the challenges we face in a post-pandemic world.
Her Majesty delivered the closing speech.

On Thursday The King and Queen of Spain carried out two engagements in Granada. Their first event of the day was the inauguration of the exhibition 'Odaliscas. From Ingres to Picasso', at the Museum of Fine Arts, Palace of Carlos V.
The exhibition is made up of 48 pieces by artists such as Ingres, Délacroix, Chasseriau, Gérôme, Constant, Bernard, Matisse and Picasso, among others, from prestigious institutions and private collections. It reflects on the creation of the myth of the odalisque and how its figure became one of the great topics of art history throughout the 19th and 20th centuries and how it became a key theme that traversed a century and a half of major aesthetic transformations in Western painting, showing the validity and importance of the traditional female nude.
Following a tour of the Odaliscas exhibition, Their Majesties went to the Nasrid Palaces, where they saw the restoration works carried out and the link between the space and the exhibition.
Later in the day, Their Majesties presided over the delivery of the 2020 National Innovation and Design Awards, the most important awards given in Spain in the fields of innovation and design, at the Granada Conference Centre.
The objective of the National Innovation and Design Awards is to distinguish people and organizations that have made innovation an indispensable element in the development of their professional strategy and business growth.
After the award ceremony, a round table took place 'Reflections on innovation and design' and Their Majesties met with the winners.

The King and Queen of Spain presided over the opening ceremony of the exhibition 'Berlanguiano. Luis García Berlanga (1921-2021)', on the centenary of his birth, at the Headquarters of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando, Madrid.
Luis García-Berlanga Martí (1921 - 2010), was a Spanish film director and screenwriter. Throughout Berlanga's career, he won many prestigious awards including the Prince of Asturias Award for Arts in 1986. The exhibition identifies the evolution of Luis García Berlanga's cinematographic career and, in parallel, moments of Spanish life portrayed by national and international photographers who looked at and interpreted that autochthonous reality at the time. Promoted by the Film Academy, the exhibition presents the filmmaker as one of the most significant authors of 20th-century Spanish culture and shows the creator of unforgettable stories and characters through his films.
Their Majesties received a guided tour of the exhibition that consists of photographs, audiovisual material, scripts, posters and filming plans by the curator Esperanza G. Claver. Concluding their visit, the King and Queen conversed with the relatives of Luis García Berlanga, Spanish cinema personalities and guests.
Queen Letizia debuted a vibrant pink dress by Hugo Boss. It is the 'Dellisi' style from the BOSS Womenswear line. The lightweight maxi-length dress, crafted in silk georgette is inspired by the season's boho trend. It is fashioned with ruched detailing and a tiered skirt with a voluminous A-line shape. A cord belt trimmed with signature hardware adds definition and impact at the waist of this statement piece.

The Queen of Spain inaugurated the exhibition 'Emilia Pardo Bazán. The challenge of modernity', on the centenary of her death, at the National Library of Spain, Madrid.
Emilia Pardo Bazán (1851 - 1921), was a Spanish novelist, journalist, literary critic, poet, playwright, translator, editor and professor. She is known for introducing naturalism into Spanish literature, for her detailed descriptions of reality, and for her ground-breaking introduction of feminist ideas into the literature of her era. Pardo Bazán's ideas regarding women's rights for education made her a prominent feminist figure.
Through more than two hundred pieces including books, manuscripts, photographs, etc, the exhibition explores the multifaceted character of Emilia Pardo Bazán, one of the great European writers of her generation. Her Majesty and the attending authorities received a guided tour from the curator of the exhibition, Isabel Burdiel Bueno.

The King and Queen of Spain presided over the annual meeting with the members of the Board of Trustees of the Princess of Asturias Foundation on Friday at the Royal Palace of Madrid.
The Princess of Asturias Foundation is a private non-profit institution, whose aims are to contribute to the promotion of all the scientific, cultural and humanistic values that form part of the universal heritage of humanity and consolidate the existing links between the Principality of Asturias and the title traditionally held by the heirs to the Crown of Spain. King Felipe VI has been Honorary President of the Foundation since its creation in 1980. After his proclamation as King of Spain in 2014, his eldest daughter Leonor is now the Honorary President of this institution.
Later in the afternoon, Their Majesties met with the President of the Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa. King Felipe VI and the President of the Portuguese Republic went on to present the Iberian candidacy for the '2030 FIFA World Cup' and attended a friendly match between the National Teams of Spain and Portugal.

The Queen of Spain, as Honorary President of the Foundation for Aid against Drug Addiction (FAD), chaired a working meeting with the Board of Trustees, at the Mutua Madrileña Headquarters, Madrid.
During the meeting, Her Majesty was presented with the main consequences in areas such as employment or health, caused by COVID-19 in adolescents and youths. Along with FAD's strategy to contribute to Spain's recovery after the crisis and the possibility of applying for Next Generation EU funds, which has been developed with the support of the Boston Consulting Group.
The FAD was created in 1986, it is a private, non-profit, non-denominational, apolitical institution that aims to prevent drug use and its consequences, promoting preventive education at all levels - school, family and community, finding specific objectives related to drug use, and attending to other psychosocial risk behaviours.
Queen Letizia made a statement in a striking grey pinstriped dress featuring a structured neckline softened by a tie detail at the left shoulder.
The dress is by Spanish fashion designer, Ulises Mérida. It was seen on the runway as part of Mérida's A/W 2021-2022 'LIBRE' collection done in partnership with the Association for the Prevention, Reintegration and Care of Prostituted Women (APRAMP). APRAMP is a Spanish organization created in 1984, dedicated to support the people who suffer sexual exploitation, forced prostitution and trafficking.

The King and Queen of Spain travelled to northern Spain today to attend the inauguration of the Memorial Center for the Victims of Terrorism in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the capital of the Basque Autonomous Community.
At the Memorial Centre, Their Majesties watched 'The Aurresku Of Honor' (the most elegant and solemn dance performed in the Basque Country), which was followed by the unveiling of the commemorative plaque of the inauguration. Afterwards, the King and Queen received a guided tour of the permanent exhibition at the Centre.
In the assembly hall, Their Majesties attended the inauguration ceremony for the Memorial Centre for the Victims of Terrorism, which began with a minute of silence and interventions from the president of the Foundation, Tomás Caballero and King Felipe VI. To conclude, the King and Queen signed the Book of Honour and held a meeting with attendees.
The Memorial Centre for the Victims of Terrorism reflects the history of terrorism in Spain. It aims to preserve and disseminate the democratic and ethical values embodied by the victims of terrorism, build the collective memory of the victims, and raise awareness among the population as a whole for the defence of freedom and human rights.
Queen Letizia premiered a black shirt dress from a brand we have not seen her wear before. She sported the 'Drago' dress by Basque-based brand Leyre Doueil. The local label prides itself on offering fashionable womenswear that respects the manufacturing processes and only engages small artisan workshops in Bilbao, Spain to produce its limited collections.
The €295 'Drago' dress has an abundance of design features including a pointed collar, ruffled elbow sleeve, coconut button front, asymmetric flounce hem, contrast seam details, self-tie belt, sides pockets, and fringe trimmings .
