Her family were immensely proud.
This event is one of the most anticipated on the Spanish royal calendar and we are always excited to see what Queen Letizia will premier at this annual gala.
Tonight she opted for understated glamour and debuted a burgundy red Felipe Varela midi dress.
The short sleeve chiffon dress features a high v-neckline and finely pleated waist with sequin trim.
Letizia teamed it with her metallic Felipe Varela clutch and burgundy LODI suede ankle strap pumps.
The highlight of the outfit were a new pair of dazzling ruby and diamond drop earrings. Each earring features two different sized oval ruby cabochons surrounded by a double row of diamonds. Their provenance is unknown.

Queen Letizia returns to Pertegaz to meet the winners of Princess of Asturias Awards 201918/10/2019
The Spanish Royal family began their second day in Oviedo in the Convadonga Hall of the Reconquista Hotel.
They first held an audience with the winners of the 'End of Career 2018' awards from the University of Oviedo, and those awarded the "Medallas de Asturias 2019"
The royal family were then joined by Queen Sofia for an audience with the 2019 Princess of Asturias Award laureates.
For this morning's event, Her Majesty surprised us with a new dress by Spanish heritage brand Pertegaz.
The last time we saw Letizia in one of Manuel Pertegaz's creations was on her wedding day on 22 May 2004!
Today she wore a silver pussy bow dress from the label's Fall/Winter 19/20 ready-to-wear collection. The feminine frock features floral appliques, voluminous sleeves, and a midi length pencil skirt.
Below is a look at the back of the dress.
It was only fitting that Queen Letizia would also wear her wedding earrings.
She grounded the look with her black Carolina Herrera slingback pumps.
I don't normally give my opinions on Letizia's looks, but I hope we don't have to wait another 15 years to see her don another Pertegaz design!

Queen Letizia showcases exciting new designer for the Princess of Asturias Awards Concert17/10/2019
Their Majesties attended the 28th Princess of Asturias Award Concert this evening.
Below is a video of Their Majesties arriving at the 'Prince Felipe' Congress Hall Auditorium in Oviedo.
The annual orchestral concert is the opening event for the Princess of Asturias Awards where the Spanish royals present a series of prizes, which are given to people or organisations from around the globe who make notable achievements in science, humanities and public affairs. It is considered a prestigious cultural event
In the first four years since attending in her role as Queen consort, Letizia would rely on Felipe Varela to outfit her for the annual concert.
However, last year she dropped the Spanish couturier in favor of an off-the-rack little black dress by Italian luxury brand Emporio Armani.
This year, Queen Letizia showcased a new designer and wore a striking set by Spanish label, The 2nd Skin Co.
The nude-tone strapless top has a textured crinkle pleat throughout the body, and is topped with box pleats and ostrich feathers at the neckline. The waistline is defined by a black ribbon belt and diamante buckle. The top will set you back €680. The wool straight-leg trousers can be purchased separately for €550.
Letizia teamed the outfit with her black Magrit 'Mary' satin panel flap clutch bag, and black Manolo Blahnik snakeskin pumps with custom black rubber platform sole.
She completed the outfit with her de Grisogono black and white diamond teardrop earrings.
Before leaving, Their Majesties greeted and took photographs with crowds who had gathered to wait for them.

The Spanish royal family travelled to Oviedo today to preside over the Princess of Asturias Awards 2019.
Over the next few days they will deliver a series of prizes to individuals, entities or companies from around the world who make notable achievements in the sciences, humanities, and public affairs.
This year marks the debut of Leonor, Princess of Asturias and Infanta Sofía at the awards. Letizia offset the grey with a new pair of red crocodile-effect pumps. At first glance I thought they were her red Hugo Boss 'Staple R100-C' pumps, but the new pair has a fully covered curved heel with black sole, and the toe is more pointed. They are a bespoke design by Magrit.
She completed the look with her circle link dangle earrings.
