On Thursday, King Felipe and Queen Letizia hosted the traditional annual reception for the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Spain at the Royal Palace of Madrid.
The reception, held annually for the New Year, serves as an opportunity to strengthen diplomatic relations, promote international cooperation, and celebrate the diversity of the diplomatic community in Spain. The event typically attracts around 1,200 guests, and Their Majesties greet diplomats and ambassadors upon their arrival in the Throne Room of the palace.
Queen Letizia wore a new royal blue chiffon maxi skirt with a flowy silhouette, paired with a white shirt from The 2nd Skin Co.'s Spring/Summer '25 'Tabloza' Collection (a repeat piece)
The style of the skirt resembles the pink chiffon one Her Majesty wore to the 2023 Diplomatic Corps reception, although the designer remains unknown.
On her feet she wore her Magrit 'Clara' Pumps in Navy.
The Queen completed the look with her long diamond and sapphire earrings.

I personally like this ensemble, very feminine. The skirt glides beautifully on movement. I like the crisp white shirt. The Navy shoes look good with this ensemble. The diamond and sapphire earrings are a nice touch. Its great to go back in time and see the previous ensembles worn, many and varied.

This seems to be the event where Letizia opts for a skirt and blouse. On this occasion I like the blouse and I like the skirt. I just don't like them together. The blouse is much too plain and tailored to do justice to a beautiful, flowing, chiffon skirt.

Letizia certainly managed to swish regally into the palace setting for the diplomatic reception in her full-length, potentially full-circle blue skirt. I'm not so keen on a white shirt top with it though, as it looks a touch schoolgirl-ish if not juvenile.
