On Tuesday, King Felipe and Queen Letizia attended the institutional ceremony commemorating the 47th anniversary of Spain’s 1978 Constitution at the Cortes Generales in Madrid.

This week marks a historic milestone, as the 1978 Constitution has officially surpassed the 1876 Constitution in longevity, becoming the longest-serving Fundamental Law in Spain’s history.
Following the institutional event, Their Majesties inaugurated the exhibition ‘The Spanish Constitution of 1978: Our Longest-Lasting Constitution. A Project, a Consensus, a Country of Rights and Freedoms’.

For the occasion, Queen Letizia revisited her navy tweed skirt suit, first worn in February 2025 for a luncheon with the President of Egypt​ (shown below).

On Friday, King Felipe and Queen Letizia attended the exhibition “In Memoriam Tomás y Valiente. 1996–2026” at the Faculty of Law at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM), commemorating the 30th anniversary of the assassination of Francisco Tomás y Valiente by the terrorist organization ETA.

Francisco Tomás y Valiente was a distinguished jurist and professor at UAM, and each year the Faculty of Law honors his lasting academic and institutional legacy.
For the commemorative event, Queen Letizia wore her Teresa Helbig 'Opium' Contrast Yoke Jumpsuit paired with her black suede boots by Magrit, and a skinny black leather belt.

She first welcomed representatives from the Claudia Tecglen Foundation, an organisation dedicated to reshaping perceptions of disability, expanding genuine opportunities for those living with it, and turning barriers into pathways for inclusion and empowerment.

​Afterwards, Queen Letizia met with representatives of the Glaucoma Association for Patients and Families, an organisation committed to raising awareness of the disease and supporting those affected by it.
​For her final audience, Queen Letizia received representatives of the Occident Foundation, along with the winners of the Foundation’s 7th edition of the Jesús Serra Research Awards. The prize honours groundbreaking advances in fields including microbiota research, food addiction, obesity, epigenetics, and breast cancer.

This is the third time this Board of Trustees has been convened, created as an advisory body of National Heritage on the occasion of the inauguration of the Gallery of Royal Collections, the institution's youngest museum, which opened its doors in the summer of 2023.

Following a day of separate engagements, King Felipe and Queen Letizia reunited to travel to Huelva for a funeral mass honoring the 45 people who lost their lives in the Adamuz train accident on January 18.​

Special recognition was given to all the people and professionals who participated in the rescue, care, and relief efforts, acknowledging their dedication, generosity, and service in the face of the tragedy.
Queen Letizia wore a black coatdress previously seen at the funeral of King Constantine II of Greece in 2023. The design features a shawl collar with velvet trim at the waist and cuffs, and is reportedly the work of an independent dressmaker.​
