On Thursday, King Felipe and Queen Letizia continued their State Visit to Egypt, beginning the day with separate agendas.

Queen Letizia began by visiting the Sultan Foundation’s cultural center in the City of the Dead, where she inaugurated the photography exhibition Maq’ad Sultan Qaitbey by Egyptian artist Mohamed Mahdy and Spanish photographer Laura Silleras, focusing on life in the historic necropolis.

After the exhibition, Queen Letizia attended a percussion performance, toured workshops in leather and goldsmithing, met with women supported by the Foundation, and concluded with a visit to the restored Sultan Qaitbey mausoleum, a project that promotes cultural access for disadvantaged communities in Cairo.
In the afternoon, Their Majesties reunited for a meeting with the directors of the Spanish departments at Egyptian universities and institutes of higher education.

On the third day of the State Visit, Queen Letizia wore a jacket by Egyptian designer Dina Shaker, styled with white wide-leg trousers. Safari-inspired and crafted from 100% washed linen, the tailored design features four front flap pockets and back pleats for ease of movement.

It's interesting to see the work of an Egyptian designer. The choice of linen is a good one in what must be very hot weather. While the blazer looks smart overall I think the large lower pockets are too obtrusive. It would look better with just the two smaller ones at the top. I do like the unusual tailoring of the back pleats. The off white/beige of the jacket goes well with the lighter white pants.

I fully agree with you, Sandy, that the lower, jacket pockets are all wrong. They look like saddle bags on a horse or mule. Like you, I also admire the pleats in the back of the jacket.

This jacket is gorgeous, I love it. It has some interesting features. The pants look lovely and work in well with the jacket. Love the earrings, very distinctive and of substance.

Letizia is keen on sticking with her desert whites, this being the second white pant suit of the trip. I admire her as always for being brave enough to experiment and try Egyptian designer, Dina Shaker. The suit looks well on what we can see of Letizia, though the styling in the studio shots looks a little misshapen with the heavy darting and pleats in the back of the jacket. Extra large flap pockets on the lower jacket where it flares out could be too heavy.

However safari style is safe enough as a rule, despite colonial undertones, and Letizia looks very well. I love her experimental earrings from Mishka, the double pendant is most creative and mixed angled shapes are great fun. They go well against the trusty Sezane Paula Babies pumps, which give their own hint of funk in the chunky low heels and double straps.
