Their Majesties kicked off their Parisian visit by honoring the Spanish Olympic Team at a reception held at the Spanish Embassy.

I wasn't aware the dress was on loan from Dior. Thanks for letting me know.

I guess that Carolina Herrera does the same many times or gives her items, in this case from past seasons, as she wears her outfits so much.

This dress is too busy and wild with too many embellishments. It's hard on the eyes as the top is not in harmony with the skirt. The patterns don't align or match in any way. It looks like two separates badly placed together. The top would look good with a plain black skirt but since it's a dress that would not be possible. However, I do love the beautiful sandals.

I totally agree with everything you say. Yes, the top would look nice with a plain black skirt. Likewise the skirt would be okay with a plain cream top. But the two parts showing don't relate to each other in anyway. I am loving these lower heeled shoes and this black pair are especially pretty with the bow and pearl trim.

Maybe in the future, Letizia can take the dress apart and wear it as separates in the way we both prefer.

Sandy, the dress is going to be at a Museum in France, It belongs to Dior, It was a loan. It is a piece of art.

Thanks for the info. Lo. I don't think it will be taken apart like I suggested. You can't mess with art.

The top and embellishments are fine, but the skirt is too much. They don't seem to align well. A plain skirt would I feel look much better. The up style hair looks fabulous and I love the earrings.

Sorry for my English, I am writing through a translator.
I would like to make a clarification regarding this dress of the Queen at the Embassy and at the Louvre. Some people see it as a work of art of exquisite embroidery craftsmanship, while others are left with the adjective "ornate" or "excessive". Well, each to their own opinion, but Letizia "no da puntada sin hilo" as we say in Spain and the nod to Paris and its Haute Couture industry is important.
The Maison Dior explained that the embroidery on the skirt corresponds to the design of the Versailles railings and the top to the upper ornament.
The suit is the one worn on the catwalk, it will not be sold and will go into the Dior Museum. I understand that the shoes (I don't like them very much) and the bag are part of the loan pack.

This dress is a lot and it suits the festivity of the occasion. It's a moment for opulence. I think my brain is intrigued by the contrasts: black on top, white on the bottom, small print on the skirt then a similar but enlarged print on the top. For me there is harmony in the dissonance. This dress put a smile on my face.

I think the Dior embellished midi dress is wonderful and the latest example of Letizia rocking black and white. The bold embroidered top and generous patterned skirt stand out well for photographs against the Louvre and make it perfect for the formal occasion.

I'm not a fan of classic Dior bags - quelle horreur! -- but I can live with this one. The Dior sandals are lovely although they wear a little clumsily with the big skirt. Black star-burst earrings are perfect.
