On Thursday, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia presided over the prestigious Miguel de Cervantes Prize ceremony at the University of Alcalá in Alcalá de Henares, birthplace of Spain’s greatest writer, Miguel de Cervantes, best known for his masterpiece Don Quixote.
The award is one of the richest literary prizes in the world and the most prestigious in Spain and Latin America. It honours the lifetime achievement of an eminent writer in the Spanish language. This year, Their Majesties presented the Miguel de Cervantes Prize to Mexican writer Gonzalo Celorio.
For the occasion, Queen Letizia repeated her delphinium-hued Carolina Herrera Sleeve-Tie Midi Dress, first worn during a visit to Belgium in June 2025.
The floral-print Furla 1927 Top Handle Mini Bag added a charming spring touch to the ensemble.
On her feet were the Magrit 'Carlota' Slingback Pumps in Beige Leather.
Completing the look were the Queen's Gold & Roses 'Sasa' crawler earrings in rose gold, accented with tanzanite drops.

It’s so good to see this dress again! The color is gorgeous, and the fit is impeccable, beautifully enhanced by the tie sleeves, which add interest to the simple sheath silhouette. The floral-print handbag was a lovely addition, working in harmony with the beige slingbacks, while the earrings were a perfect finishing touch.

I am not a fan of the ties of the sleeves. The dress looks lovely on the Queen, I don't really like the dress, its rather bland, maybe a brooch, or necklace, something, long strand of pearls maybe, to add some interest. I like the beige shoes. The bag on the other hand, I love! This is a gorgeous bag, its different and unusual in a good way. I love the multi colors, especially with this dress. The style of the bag, perfect. The earrings are cute but not with this dress, It would have been nice to see something more of substance.

This is a dress well suited to the prestigious Cervantes prize ceremony in that it boasts a basic beautifully tailored classic sheath and stands out in its delphinium hue. Where I'm not so happy is with the tie bow sleeves which strike me as awkward and sticking out oddly. I often like tie features and folds as they are a quiet way of upgrading a plain outfit, but for me it has backfired in the protuberant placing so near the top of the shoulders.
