Queen Letizia Keeps It Timeless in White and Navy for Day of Engagements

On Wednesday, Queen Letizia hosted audiences at the Zarzuela Palace with delegations from the Spanish Mental Health Confederation.

She first met with professionals actively involved in suicide prevention, recognising their vital work in raising awareness, providing support, and helping to save lives

This was followed by an audience with professionals dedicated to the prevention, treatment, and support of those affected by eating disorders.

Shortly afterwards, Her Majesty travelled to Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport to see off the AECID emergency medical team as they departed for Venezuela to assist communities affected by the recent earthquakes.

For the day's engagements, Queen Letizia kept her look understated, pairing a crisp white button-down shirt with dark blue trousers. The shirt, which features a concealed placket, appears to be the same one she wore in August 2019 when visiting King Juan Carlos in hospital. It remains unidentified.

The trousers are a new addition by Hugo Boss. They are the label's 'Toyal2' style featuring a linen-blend with a zip-front fastening and an elasticated back waistband.

On her feet were her navy Calzados Picón Espadrille Wedges.

Letizia decided to go back to the basics with this practical and functional outfit. You always look presentable in a pair of black slacks and a classic white shirt. My only complaint is the elasticized waistband. They are unsightly and give the outfit a more casual look. I also feel they are for heavier people who have trouble fastening buttons and zippers. Letizia will never have that problem.

This outfit is simplicity at its best. I was surprised that Hugo Boss makes pants with elastic in the waistband. I love this feature for my own use, but always considered it rather "old lady" and lacking in style. But if it is good enough for Hugo and Letizia, it is good enough for me!

The simplicity of style for this working outfit makes it all the more effective. I love me a good white shirt but find this one a little confusing as despite the carefully engineered hidden placket, it seems to rely on visible buttons for decoration at the neckline. Also I'm a little confused by the term 'button down shirt' as I thought that meant the corners of the collar were buttoned down and they seem to be quite free here. The cuffs seem to roll back easily for a nice laid-back working look.

The Hugo Boss trousers also seem efficient and businesslike though I would have thought Letizia was the last person on earth to need a an elasticated back waistband and would well avoid the unfortunate bunch of fabric caused by it. From the front the trouser look nicely tailored and the legs are not too wide, with linen-blend fabric hanging easily. The navy Calzados Picon Espadrille Wedges are chic peeking out from the hems. Simple diamond stud earrings are the perfect finishing touch for a working look
