On Tuesday, Queen Letizia privately visited the funeral chapel at the Casa de Galicia in Madrid to pay her respects to veteran Spanish journalist Fernando Ónega, who passed away at the age of 78. Ónega was one of Spain’s most respected broadcasters and political commentators, with a career spanning decades in radio, television and print media.
The Queen’s presence was a deeply personal gesture of support, as Ónega was the father of journalist and author Sonsoles Ónega, a longtime friend and former colleague of Letizia from her own years working in television news prior to joining the Spanish royal family.
Her attendance underscored both her enduring ties to the journalism profession and her close friendship with the Ónega family during a time of mourning.
Queen Letizia opted for a black tailored suit by Sportmax, featuring the brand’s sharply cut Adamo blazer paired with the coordinating Hangar trousers, creating a refined look appropriate for the solemn occasion.
She carried her Hugo Boss 'Fanila' Clutch.
On her feet were the Massimo Dutti Heeled Loafers.
She finished the look with her Gold & Roses 'Luzia' Stars Earrings.

Letizia looks respectful in all black for a funeral. However, given the sombre occasion and that she is the Queen, I think a dress would have been more appropriate.

I respectfully disagree. She attended in a private capacity, and from what I understand this was a viewing rather than the funeral itself. I also believe the suit was an appropriate choice, particularly given that she frequently wore similar styles during her years as a news anchor. In that sense, it may well have been a thoughtful sartorial nod to her professional past.

Irregardless of this being a private event, or having memories of the past, Letizia is now the Queen, and so I think a skirt or dress would suggest a higher standard, befitting her position.

Actually she is NOT the Queen at all, she is only the Consort of the King. Leonor will be the Queen. And if you want to follow the ancient rules, she must wears only what the King wants and says...if he says pants..pants..if he says a dress a dress..if he says you should seat...Seat...and so on....

I like the retro. look of the pants. The way they narrow at the knee and then flare out at the bottom. The blazer looks smart and fits well.

This outfit looks so stylish and elegant. The pants are gorgeous, I love the narrow/flair at her calf level. This looks wonderful. The jacket, fits perfectly, like the style and length. Love the earrings. She looked very appropriately dressed.
