On Tuesday, Queen Letizia kicked off her cooperation trip in Cabo Verde, marking her second day in the country with a busy morning at the Spanish Embassy, meeting with Spanish cooperation officials and touring the facilities.
Her Majesty then travelled to Pedra Badejo to visit the "Women's Empowerment and Economic Autonomy" project where she engaged with women learning dressmaking and entrepreneurship skills.
Next, Queen Letizia stopped at the "Manuela Irgher House" shelter, welcomed by Cape Verde’s First Lady, Débora Katisa Carvalho. She learned about efforts to support women and girls escaping gender-based violence, touring the facility with local officials. The nearby "Casa Familia" shelter, recently opened in Santa Cruz, enhances care and protection services for survivors across several islands, a project launched in 2022.
In the afternoon, Her Majesty visited Porto Mosquito to explore a UN-partnered pilot program aimed at localizing the Sustainable Development Goals. With officials like the UN Resident Coordinator and local leaders, she reviewed efforts to tackle inequality through community development. The visit included a glimpse of artisanal fishing life and a farewell performance by local "batucadeiras" musicians, highlighting the area’s culture and challenges.
The day ended back at the Spanish Embassy with a final meeting alongside Spanish cooperation representatives, capping off a day focused on empowerment, resilience, and sustainable progress in Cape Verde.
Queen Letizia wore the Spanish Cooperation shirt and vest, paired with khaki-olive pants and her trusty Vivobarefoot Tracker FG Boots. Toting the same crossbody saddle bag she arrived with the previous day, she added her Carolina Herrera cat-eye sunglasses.
Here's a closer look at the handbag which still remains unidentified.
