On Tuesday, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia presided over the annual meeting of the Patronato of the Instituto Cervantes at the Royal Palace of Aranjuez in Madrid.
The Patronato serves as the highest governing body of the Instituto Cervantes, Spain’s cultural institution dedicated to promoting the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures worldwide.
During the event, the 2025 “Ñ” Award was presented to María Delgado, a University of London professor, in recognition of her contributions to the international promotion of the Spanish language. The King and Queen later hosted a luncheon for the institute’s patrons, Ibero-American ambassadors accredited in Spain, and senior officials.
Queen Letizia wore a navy Carolina Herrera Initials Insignia jacquard crepe de Chine straight-fit shirt, paired with black trousers and her Hugo Boss Ley-D black leather belt.
On her feet were the Massimo Dutti Heeled Loafers.
Queen Letizia finished the look with her Aldao aquamarine hoop earrings.

This outfit looks great, very stylish and chic. It fits beautifully. I love the black top and well fitted pants, they are a good length. Love her Loafers on this occasion. The Aqua earrings, I love.

I don't understand pairing navy with black. They are two dark, neutral colours that are both dull. There is no contrast or anything of interest in this outfit. It looks depressing. Interesting that both ladies chose the same outfit. I thought they were attending a funeral.

Although Letizia's outfit is described as a navy top and black pants, on both of my screens both pieces appear to be black. That is how I prefer to view them, as I don't really think black and navy are great together. The look is well tailored, no fuss and appropriate for a meeting. The shoes and belt add to the cohesion.

This is one sober work outfit from Letizia, the winter blues are in full cry here. I admire the Queen for taking on the pearl-clutchers by combining navy with black, the combination they once said could not be. The Herrera blouse looks lovely, the bow is not too fulsome, and disappears quite nicely among all the dark fabric. The raglan sleeves are stylish and a nice touch for winter.
