On Friday, the Spanish Royal Family presided over a solemn ceremony in the Throne Room of the Royal Palace of Madrid, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the restoration of the Spanish monarchy.

During the ceremony, King Felipe VI awarded the Insigne Orden del Toisón de Oro (Illustrious Order of the Golden Fleece) — the highest honour of the Crown — to his mother, Queen Sofía, in recognition of her lifelong dedication and service to Spain and the Crown.

In addition to the queen‑emérita, the honour was also conferred on the former prime minister Felipe González and the two surviving “fathers” of the Constitution — Miquel Roca and Miguel Herrero y Rodríguez de Miñón — in recognition of their roles in Spain’s democratic transition.
The Spanish Royal Family then held a reception.

This was followed by an event at the Congress of Deputies marking the fiftieth anniversary of the restoration of the Spanish Monarchy and the colloquium “50 Years Later: The Crown in the Transition to Democracy.”
For this stately occasion, Queen Letizia repeated a complete ensemble—top to toe—that she first wore on Day 2 of the State Visit to Italy.

The look consists of her ‘slipper pink’ Carolina Herrera tweed separates, a custom design inspired by a coordinated set from the designer’s FW24 collection.

She accessorized with bespoke pink Magrit pieces—the ‘Carlota’ slingback leather pumps and the matching top-handle structured flap bag.

Queen Letizia again chose to finish the look with her Gold & Roses Luzia Stars Earrings.

This jacket on Queen Letizia is a miss for me. I adore all the other details, but the exaggerated puff shoulders are simply unflattering and detract from the look. Normal shoulders would have made this a winning ensemble.

I agree--the puff shoulders aren't great. They detract from the beautiful detailing along the front of the jacket.

Pretty in pink seems to be the theme for both Letizia and Sofia. I like both outfits, with the exception of the exaggerated sleeve puffs on Letizia's jacket. The pink shoes and bag add an elegant touch. The two young princesses look overly casual for such a special event.

The puff shoulders are not attractive, otherwise I love this outfit. The embellishments of the jacket, beautifully done. The color is gorgeous and suits the Queen well. Love her shoes and pink flap bag. Queen Sofia looks beautiful, her ensemble looks wonderful, she looks very elegant. Her earrings are beautiful.

I'm glad Letizia found an appropriate occasion to rewear this distinctive Herrera outfit, it remains very individual even with the merciful alterations to those exaggerated shoulders. Hooray for coordinated custom accessories from Magrit.

The embroidered front embellishment needs the formal palace setting to carry it off, and the overall colour remains lovely on her.. The embellishment is clearly reflected in the exquisite Gold and Roses Luzia Stars earrings. The soft pink colour is also wonderfully complimentary on Golden Fleece recipient Queen Sofia.
