Queen Letizia Showcases Polished Tailoring in Carolina Herrera Trousers and a New Antik Batik Blouse12/2/2026
On Thursday, Queen Letizia hosted a series of audiences at Zarzuela Palace.
She first welcomed representatives from the Claudia Tecglen Foundation, an organisation dedicated to reshaping perceptions of disability, expanding genuine opportunities for those living with it, and turning barriers into pathways for inclusion and empowerment.
Afterwards, Queen Letizia met with representatives of the Glaucoma Association for Patients and Families, an organisation committed to raising awareness of the disease and supporting those affected by it.
For her final audience, Queen Letizia received representatives of the Occident Foundation, along with the winners of the Foundation’s 7th edition of the Jesús Serra Research Awards. The prize honours groundbreaking advances in fields including microbiota research, food addiction, obesity, epigenetics, and breast cancer.
For the day’s audiences, Queen Letizia paired her grey Carolina Herrera cuffed trousers with a new blue Antik Batik ‘Melinda’ silk shirt (US$595).
On her feet were the Massimo Dutti Heeled Loafers.
Queen Letizia finished the look with her Barbara Goenaga Gaua Earrings and the PDPAOLA Diamond Solitaire Supreme Necklace.

An okay outfit. It seems a tad too casual for welcoming guests to the Palace.

Actually, Zarzuela isn't a palace, it's a country house. Nobody lives in the Royal Palace of Madrid; it's only used for visitors. And Felipe and Letizia don't live in Zarzuela either, but in a house.

The Zarzuela Palace enjoys rich baroque architecture and I think it must be hard for Letizia to find outfits which can successfully stand out against its ornate background. It was built as a country palace or hunting lodge.

Palaces in Spain belong to the Government so they belong to the people, the Monarchy has no properties at all and they live in a House that belong to the Government too, which is socialist. There is not such a royalty in Spain.

I like the blouse. The blue colour and buttons are nice. It goes well with the cuffed grey pants. I agree with Laura that it is too casual. It looks like all the guests put in some effort and dressed up more than the queen.

And this is just the contrary what she must do in Spain, she is not the Queen, only the Consort of the King. Monarchy means austerity, as Felipe II the Emperor usted to say.

The pants are a good fit, but I personally prefer the previous wears, with the red colored blouse. This blouse is fine, but the overall look is very bland, uninteresting. Its nice to see the Queen wearing a simple, subtle necklace.

After all the dark outfits Letizia has been obliged to wear of late this one comes as relative sweetness and light. The blue Antik Batik Melinda shirt looks feminine despite businesslike pointed collar and long sleeves. No doubt the soft silk fabric helps give a casual vibe and the relatively large buttons add character.
