Queen Letizia stuns in a dramatic Carolina Herrera dress at Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony

On Friday evening, the King and Queen of Spain, along with their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, presided over the 2024 Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony at the Campoamor Theater in Oviedo.

Upon their arrival, the Spanish royal family followed the tradition of walking the blue carpet with Queen Sofia and posing for photos.

The Awards acknowledge international achievements in various fields, including Arts, Literature, Social Sciences, Communication, Humanities, Technical and Scientific Research, International Cooperation, Concord, and Sports.

18-year-old Leonor, Princess of Asturias addressed the attendees during the awards ceremony which bears her title.

The sculptural ruffle atop the sleek column is phenomenal. I love that drama and to me it doesn't go over the top. The only thing that would make me like it more, would be if it weren't black.

This annual event allows Letizia the opportunity to wear something very glamourous and she didn't disappoint this year. The dress certainly has the "wow" factor we have come to expect. I really like it. The design is dramatic and stunning the way the bodice flows into the sleeves and contrasts with the close fit of the rest of the dress. It's a very original design for sure and Letizia looks splendid.
I wonder why the whole family chose to wear black. They almost look like they are going to a funeral.

WOW, this is one dramatic dress! I'd say the huge ruffle is too big for Letizia's small frame. I don't care for the earrings either.

'Stuns' is certainly the word for this choice of dress, I never thought I would eventually see something I so completely disliked on Letizia, but here we are. I'm sorry, as I am usually first in line to embrace Letizia's bolder choices, but in this case I fear Carolina Herrera must have been having a funny turn.

There may be something of the matador in the huge collar and bold sleeves but there my sympathy runs out. The collar is so oversized as to swamp Letizia and I find the extent of the bare shoulder inappropriate for royal engagements.

The exaggerated sleeves are also too much with the comic collar, and my sense of disproportion is only added to by the low kitten heels with the midi length of the admittedly beautifully fitting column of the dress.

Accessories are nicely chosen otherwise as plain black seems to be about all one could wear with this. The relatively muted sleek Magrit clutch is just right, and those Black Diamond Teardrop Earrings are gorgeous

Actually, I think the dress doesn't swamp or overwhelm Letizia because only the top part is voluminous while the bottom fits her like a glove. CH kept the dress in proportion so it works IMHO. But I can certainly see why you would dislike the dress . It is very contemporary and not to everyone's taste.

This dress is very dramatic and I vacillate between liking it and disliking it. Maybe it is too dramatic for the setting. And with the kitten heel it is too long. I applaud Letezia’s switch to lower heals for her health but I think as she continues to wear them most of her dress should be shortened.

This sculptural dress suits Queen Letizia beautifully, striking a balance that doesn’t overwhelm her—she truly pulls it off. The accessories are spot on, too. On the other hand, Leonor’s outfit feels a bit underwhelming; I was hoping for a touch more pizzazz. A good tuxedo suit can be a fantastic choice, but it could use some accessories to elevate the look and match the occasion.

The dress is dramatic, she looks superb. The black diamond earrings are beautiful. She looked stunning, the dress is worn perfectly.
