I know this is a blog about Letizia's clothes but this time I think Felipe stole the show. He looks so dapper and dashing in his tuxedo and bow tie. Letizia's dress is very simple so I'm glad to see the beautiful pearl necklace add some interest.

With the bold pearl necklace, the obvious choice would have been pearl earrings. Not sure why bezel-set diamond studs were selected.

This is a beautiful, simple but elegant outfit. I like the black strapless dress, the shoes and clutch perfect. The gorgeous pearl necklace is splendid, beautiful length, the pearls are a great size of substance, the diamond earrings were a fabulous choice, that was all that was needed. Beautiful presentation by the Queen.

This is a necklace made with 37 large natural pearls that King Francis of Assisi of Bourbon gave to his fiancée, Queen Isabella II of Spain, in 1846. Upon the queen's death, this piece, along with other jewels, was auctioned off, and it was Alfonso XIII who acquired it to give to Queen Victoria Eugenie. Since then, it has become part of the "jewels of passing," a collection reserved for the queens of Spain. Queen Letizia wore it for the first time in 2016, and it has also been one of the jewels that Queen Sofía has often worn. The most special was for Infanta Elena's wedding in 1995 in Seville.

Hi Pepi, thank you so much for the intel on the natural pearl necklace. This was so fascinating. It has real history. I am a real pearl girl, so I have much interest in this. To me this is the most beautiful pearl necklace I have ever seen, it ticks all the boxes. The size of the pearls, the length of the necklace, the shine of the pearls, perfect!!!!
