The Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony is one of the most anticipated events on the Spanish royal calendar, and it’s always exciting to see what Her Majesty will debut for the annual gala. This year, Queen Letizia surprised everyone by choosing to repeat an outfit for the first time

She re-wore a black strapless Sybilla midi dress, first seen at the ABC Journalism Awards in July 2025 (shown below), which she elegantly transformed with the addition of a sheer chiffon overlay — as originally intended by the designer and depicted in the brand’s stock image.

Everyone looked beautiful, but I found the outfits underwhelming overall. I appreciate that Queen Letizia is embracing understated elegance to let her daughters—especially Princess Leonor—take the spotlight. However, neither young princess delivered a truly impressive look for this occasion, one of the most significant on the Spanish royal calendar. Leonor’s ensemble lacked jewelry and any elegant elevation, while Sofia’s appeared better suited to someone in their 50s.

I agree, Milly. I was also a bit disappointed by this years outfits. Normally I look forward to the P of A awards because of the show stopper outfits. I think the Spanish royals are toning down the style and fashion when it comes to their outfits in general especially Letizia.. I wonder what is going on. I don't think it's just wanting the daughters to stand out.

Almost nobody follows her outfits in Spain, a bit in Asturias where the awards are set. It is more important the day after in small town among people, eating, and speaking with people. Also Princess' speech. I live in Oviedo where the awards are set and people like closenes, nobody was speaking about clothes in the end they are the head of state, always women need to dress, somehow, men can wear a suit and that's all. Leonor now is in Air Academy, military training, she could have appeared in military costume.
Also now Leonor is almost 20 years old and the awards bear her name, she can decide the protocol, she leads and as in her speech said, the most important here are the awards and the prizewiners, not her.

I really like Letizia's outfit. I liked it the first time she wore it without the overlay, and it looks just as becoming with it. Mesh is very on-trend right now.

The black dress worn with the pearl necklace looked stunning.
On this occasion I quite like the sheer black overlay, this looks lovely. The diamond black earrings are stunning, beautiful earrings. Its great to see the Queen rewear this gorgeous earrings.

I'm delighted Letizia found the occasion when she could wear this strapless Sybilla dress again complete with alluring chiffon overlay. I love the slightly wicked look of the raised chiffon neckline. With her hair scraped back from her face the Queen looks sophisticated and chic, and the fabulous black diamond earrings are simply the killer touch for a terrific outfit. Kudos to Sybilla for a slick clutch bag.

Leonor looks eminently sensible in her H&M jacquard weave and her hair down one side of her face looks as lovely as ever, It's interesting that Sofia chooses to extend the chiffon theme in her intriguing Miphai outfit.

I'm sorry she chose to hide behind the shawl by dragging it right across the front because the original neckline looks so pretty. I think it photographs better with the shawl away from the front. But I love the short tunic with its full length chiffon skirt. The pale Magrit flats are pretty and it looks like she has a most interesting gold cuff on bracelet on one arm. The three ladies have once again done their country proud.
