On Sunday, the King and Queen of Spain led the mourners at the funeral of King Felipe’s first cousin, Juan Gómez-Acebo, held at the Cathedral of the Armed Forces in Madrid.

There is nothing more classic than a black dress with pearls. Letizia looks perfect, dignified and very appropriate. I like the simple dress, especially the flutter sleeves and I prefer lower heels, even though it is necessity that has put an end to Letizia's stilettos. The pearl jewellery and the purse are final elegant touches.

This Herrera dress is so perfect for the funeral, it has all the dignity of all-black, but retains a youthful shape, with the flattering flare coming out from just under the bust.

The Massimo Dutti kitten heels are very pretty with this, and the Herrera satchel bag a good complement. I like how the graded pearl necklace is quite chunky, giving another youthful note, while the new drop pearl earrings keep everything elegant. Clever Letizia.

I'm sorry to hear about the death of the King's cousin. I hope it's not inappropriate to say but I love Letizia's pearl necklace. She should wear it more often. It looks great paired with black.

I am thinking that her necklace could belong to Queen Sofia?

Or could even be the necklace from Joyas De Pasar collection , judging from the size of the pearls.

This black dress, looks good. Its perfect for the occasion. It fits well, I like the length of the dress. Her kitten heel slingback shoes and bag are a welcome addition.
Love, love! her pearl necklace, the pearls are a glorious size. Her earrings are gorgeous.
