On Tuesday, Queen Letizia presided over the fifth edition of the Royal Spanish Academy of Sciences Foundation (FRACE) awards at the Royal Academy of Exact, Physical, and Natural Sciences in Madrid.

I don't like the asymmetrical hemline of this dress. It looks especially untidy sticking out from the white coat. It might look less busy if the hemline was even and straight. I like the bold print but I would prefer it as a separate broken up with a sold colour. The top part would look great with a grey pencil skirt.

The dress from & Other Stories has a very pretty print and the colours are lovely on Letizia, but otherwise I have reservations. I'm definitely not in favour of this strange dolman-sleeve style with the heavily gathered bodice plus more gathering on full sleeves.

The mock neck, self belt, and cuffs are all nice restraining features, but I'm afraid I'm also out of sympathy for asymmetric hemlines and am not happy at the thought these might be about to reappear. In this case the very floaty fabric literally makes light of them, and they flow quite well over the long boots.

I love the & Other Stories oatmeal overcoat which Letizia wears well. apart from that hem peeking out all over. I'm definitely smitten by the mercifully sleek Furla Top Handle bag, which almost matches the boots, and likewise the simple sophistication of the Pdpaula Large Sugar Earrings. Overall, I'd say Letizia handles it all pretty well!

I agree with all that you say, Bertie. The dress sticking out of the bottom of the coat doesn't seem to bother some people, but it certainly bothers me. To my eye it is a sloppy look that diminishes the finesse of the beautiful coat.

Unfortunately I'm old enough to remember when it was quite against orders to allow it to happen. I've changed whole outfits because of it. I think sloppy is the word, even if it's frequently done nowadays!

The Queen looks nice, but I don't like this dress. The hemline is a no, not a fan of uneven hemlines at all. The boots look out of place with this dress, though I do like the boots. The bag is gorgeous. Love her gold hoop earrings. .
