On Monday, the Spanish Royal Family attended the funeral service for Princess Irene of Greece at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens in Greece.
Princess Irene, the younger sister of Queen Sofía of Spain, passed away on Thursday at Zarzuela Palace at the age of 83. The funeral service was officiated by the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Ieronymos of Thebes, and the Orthodox Metropolitan Archbishop of Spain and Portugal, Bessarion Komzias.
Following the service, the burial ceremony took place at the Royal Cemetery of Tatoi Palace, in keeping with family tradition.
Queen Letizia appeared sombre in her COS belted double-faced wool coat over a black tweed dress, first worn in April 2024 to the funeral Mass of King Felipe’s cousin.
Her accessorised included the Carolina Herrera Victoria Insignia Satchel Bag, and on her feet were the Magrit Buckle Low-Heel Pumps.
Pinned to Her Majesty's chest was the 'joyas de pasar' pearl and diamond brooch. The intricate design features a large round grey pearl surrounded by diamonds and from which hangs a pear-shaped pearl, which Queen Letizia had removed for this occasion. She complemented it with her Ansorena Bezel-Set Diamond and Pearl Earrings.

The Queen looks appropriately groomed for this sad occasion. The coat by the look of it was a very wise choice, it looked to be very cold on the day, blustery winds.

Letizia effortlessly upgrades her funeral outfit with royal pearls via her fabulous joyas de pasar diamond and pearl brooch and Ansorena diamond and pearl drop earrings. The tweed dress is feminine with its bracelet sleeves. Great that the Cos coat still works so well and likewise the Carolina Herrera satchel and Magrit Buckle Pumps. I see she has switched to warmer boots when outside. As ever, she looks immaculate.
