Spanish Royal Family hold audiences ahead of 2025 Princess of Asturias Awards

On Friday morning, the King and Queen of Spain, along with their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía, hosted audiences ahead of the Princess of Asturias Awards Ceremony this evening.

They commenced the day by holding audiences at the Hotel Reconquista, where they met with recipients of the 2024 End of Degree Awards from the University of Oviedo, the winners of the 2025 Medals of Asturias, and the 2025 Favorite Son and Adoptive Son titles.

The Spanish Royal Family then proceeded to the hotel’s Covadonga Hall, where they greeted the 2025 Princess of Asturias Laureates, among them tennis legend Serena Williams.

For the occasion, Queen Letizia re-wore her grey Mango ‘Lili’ pantsuit, defined by its tailored Double-Breasted Jacket and flattering Flared Trousers.

Everyone seems to be wearing the same style pantsuit including the King. I thought this event was an opportunity for the ladies to showcase some of their more dazzling styles. I'm a bit disappointed they chose to dress down for the occasion in comparison to past years. The only one who stands out is the lady on the far left in the second photo.

I've never liked this boxy, masculine suit on Litizia and have said that it looks like she borrowed it from her father's closet. So I was not impressed to see the two princesses wearing an identical style. At least the red one looks less mannish. Also, Sophia's pants were not as long and draggy.

Its the jacket of this pantsuit that I don't like. Too large, boxy and oversized. I don't find it attractive or appealing. The pants are fine, not baggy and a good length. Her black accessories work in well, especially love her bag.

The royal ladies look very much up to the mark for hosting audiences prior to the evening Asturias awards in their various double-breasted pant suits. Letizia's grey Mango suit isn't my favourite but I think it works well as backdrop to her two daughters.

Sofia is clearly the most eye-catching in red though the Tommy Hilfiger design fails to flatter much, both jacket and pants being wide of fit as fashion seems to decree right now. At least a double row of gold buttons helps add a hint of smart and the nude Magrit flats are sweet.

Leonor seems to have come off best with Hugo Boss navy blue with its subtle self-colour pinstripe. The suit is especially smart having its own waistcoat. The trousers are wide enough to make for an unflattering shape again from the front view, but fall nicely when she moves. The Ralph Lauren flats are gorgeous and I'm a big fan of those CXC drop gold earrings. Well done, ladies!
