Letizia's Closet > Jewellery > Floral Tiara
Floral TiaraThis diadem dates back to 1879 when King Alfonso XII commissioned this tiara from the British jewelers J.P. Collins as a gift for his fiancée, Archduchess Maria Christina. Some time after her death, it was acquired by the Aldao jewelry firm, where Francisco Franco would purchase it as a wedding gift on behalf of the Spanish people for Princess Sofia of Greece and Denmark on the occasion of her wedding to Prince Juan Carlos of Spain in 1962.
This tiara is made of brilliant- and old-cut diamonds set in silver and gold, featuring floral motifs with scrolling vines and leaves. The central flower is adapted to be used as a brooch. |
