The King and Queen of Spain hosted the pre-ceremony lunch of the 'Miguel de Cervantes' award today.
Held at the Royal Palace of Madrid, the lunch brings together authorities, academics, editors, critics, teachers, booksellers and writers to honor the award-winner on the eve of the ceremony of delivery, which will take place at the University of Alcalá.
The prize is one of the most regarded literary awards in Spain and Latin America, and is granted annually to honour the lifetime achievement of an eminent writer in the Spanish language. This year, it was awarded to the Spanish novelist, Eduardo Mendoza Garriga.
Today's lunch was the second literary engagement in less than 24 hours for Her Majesty, who last night attended the Children's Literary Awards wearing a youthful bardot top. This afternoon, Letizia opted for a more conventional look, repeating her Felipe Varela colour-block dress.
She first wore the sheath dress at ARCO 2015.
Today she reworked the dress with her neutral Prada Patent Pointy-Toe patent pumps.
Letizia also kept her jewelry simple, opting for a pair of classic pearl stud earrings.

On the last day of the royal Japan visit, the King and Queen of Spain boarded a bullet train in Tokyo for a trip to the city of Shizuoka.
The Spanish monarchs were joined by the Emperor and Empress of Japan for the hour long journey on the Shinkansen train.
The foursome spent the day in Shizuoka - a Japanese prefecture in the foothills of Mount Fuji. They visited a Seismic study centre, before moving to the Fugetsuro Complex, to view an historic clock presented by King Philip III to Governor Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1611, as a token of gratitude for the rescue of the crew of the Spanish galleon San Francisco which sunk in Onjuku, to the north of Tokyo.
The whirlwind royal visit to the Land of the Rising Sun concluded with a farewell ceremony at the Shizuoka Sengen Shrine.
For the last day, Queen Letizia looked impeccable in a sharply tailored teal suit by Felipe Varela. The design is identical to her blush pink separates which she debuted in November 2013.
Her Majesty opted for perfectly matching suede pumps by Magrit and a new pewter clutch by Varela.
Letizia wore her hair pulled back in a half up-do which showed off the Chanel 'Plume' earrings.

King Felipe and Queen Letizia are on an official State Visit to Japan. The three-day visit will serve to highlight and strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries.
Their Majesties arrived in Tokyo yesterday evening but the visit officially commenced this morning when King Felipe and Queen Letizia were formally received by Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan at the Imperial Palace.
Queen Letizia kicked off the tour in shades of red, perhaps a nod to the national colours of both countries - with crimson representing the Royal Standard of Spain.
She wore an oriental-inspired coat featuring a raised collar, tulip cuff sleeves and an open front with tie closure.
The bespoke piece is by her go-to couturier, Felipe Varela and is based on the 'Andrea' coat from the designer's Spring/Summer 2017 collection.
Under the coat she wore a crimson velvet dress with a decorative button front and a tie at the neck. The custom piece is also by the Spanish designer.
Letizia's dazzling ruby and diamond dove earrings were loaned by her mother-in-law. They were gifted to Queen Sofia from the Saudi Arabian monarchy many decades ago.
Letizia accessorized with her bordeaux Lodi 'Debra' patent heels and her Felipe Valera red suede flap clutch.
Following the ceremonial welcome, the royal couple visited the National Museum of Science and Innovation to attend a presentation of the bilateral scientific and technological projects between Spain and Japan.
At midday, the Spanish royals where joined by the Spanish ambassador to Japan for a gathering of expatriates.
Letizia made a wardrobe change for the event and debuted a green floral patterned dress ($2,390) from Carolina Hererra's Pre-Fall 2015 collection.
Letizia accessorized with a neutral bag and shoes but due to the limited photos from this event, it's not possible to identify them. In the photo below we see she wore a new pair of earrings featuring a dark raspberry stone and a large green stone drop.
They are by Bounkit, a jewelry brand based in New York City specialising in semi-precious convertible and customisable jewelry. Letizia's earrings are not available on the jeweler's website but you can interchange the stones from these ready-to-wear pieces.
Queen Letizia customized the earrings with a square Amethyst stone and Green Jade drop which I've juxtaposed below from the images above.
In the evening, King Felipe and Queen Letizia were guests of honour at a state banquet hosted by the Emperor and Empress at the Imperial Palace.
Queen Letizia resembled a fairytale princess in a voluminous Felipe Varela tulle gown which she first wore in July 2015 at the gala dinner for the visiting Peruvian president and his wife.
The midnight blue dress is embroidered with leaf shaped tonal crystals and has an elegant scoop neckline.
Letizia complemented her regal style with the "Mellerio Floral" tiara, a piece she has donned on many occasions and is arguably her favorite. The tiara is made of diamonds set in gold and silver floral motifs, and is the property of Queen Sofia.
She also borrowed diamond and sapphire earrings from her mother-in-law.
Other royal jewels included the "joyas de pasar" diamond bracelets which she wore on one wrist, and a diamond brooch on her sash originating from the Ansorena Fleur de Lys tiara.
Queen Letizia completed the royal look with her newly awarded Grand Cordon of the Order of the Precious Crown.
Unfortunately the photo agency I use does not have the best range of photos available of this tour so far, hence it's been a challenge to compile the blog with detailed images of Letizia's clothing and accessories. I hope it improves as the State visit goes on, and I will update the post if better photos become available.
On Wednesday evening, King Felipe VI & Queen Letizia held a State Banquet at the Royal Palace of Madrid for the President of Argentina and his wife, who are on a State visit to Spain.
Queen Letizia chose an understated black Felipe Varela velvet gown for the glittering event, the perfect backdrop to showcase the crown jewels!
Her Majesty wore the Fleur de Lys tiara, a diadem exclusively reserved for Queens of Spain. This was Letizia's first time wearing the piece; and it is the most prominent tiara that the Spanish royal family possesses. It is affectionately named the "La Buena," or "The Good One" by the royal family.
Made in 1906 by the Spanish court jeweler Ansorena, the Fleur de Lys tiara was a wedding gift from King Alfonso XIII to Queen Victoria Eugenia (better known as Queen Ena of Spain). The all-diamond tiara features three large fleur de lys motifs - the symbol of Spain's reigning family, the House of Bourbon. The motifs are connected by swirls and scrolls and set in platinum.
The tiara is one of the joyas de pasar, a collection of jewels designated by Queen Ena in her will for the select use of Spanish queens. The large diamond earrings and the weighty double diamond bracelets that Letizia also premiered are part of that group as well.
Her Majesty wore the Order of Merit Grand Cross sash (Argentina) with a fleur de lys diamond brooch which originates from the centerpiece of her "Princess" tiara.
Under the dress we got a glimpse of black peep-toe platform sandals by Magrit.
It was a treat to finally see Queen Letizia bring out the big guns! I am however surprised she did wear the joyas de pasar for this gala. I thought she may have been saving the crown jewels for a monarch-to-monarch State visit, such as the postponed visit to the UK. Following the tiara drought of 2016, I'm delighted Queen Letizia opened the vault!
King Felipe VI & Queen Letizia welcomed Argentine president, Mauricio Macri and his wife, Juliana Awada at the commencement of their State visit to Spain.
The official welcome ceremony was held at the Royal Palace of Madrid. It included the playing of each country's national anthem.
This was followed by a Royal Guard parade.
After the ceremony, Their Majesties offered a private luncheon for their South American guests at their home in the Palace of Zarzuela.
Pink was the colour of choice for both Queen Letizia and First Lady Juliana Awada.
Her Majesty opted to repeat a blush pink Felipe Varela skirt suit, a set she's worn on a few occasions since she debuted it during a visit to the United States in November 2013.
There were no real surprises with Letzia's choice of accessories. She kept them neutral with her Magrit patent skinny belt and matching clutch bag. She added a new pair of nude pumps.
They are the LODI 'Saray' nude patent leather pumps (€109). The SARAY model is a classic lounge made of nude patent leather with a heel height of 11.5 cm and 0.5 cm concelated platform.
The highlight of the look was a "new" pair of elongated oval earrings.
The vintage-style earrings belong to Letizia's mother-in-law Queen Sofia, however their provenance is unknown. Below we show Sofia of Spain wearing them in 2008 during a State visit to Japan.
Both ladies had fabulous up-dos.
We'll see more elegance from both women at the evening's gala dinner!
The King and Queen of Spain attended a dinner this evening commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Spanish newspaper, Expansión.
Queen Letizia looked sophisticated in a new Carolina Herrera number for the event held at the The Westin Palace hotel in Madrid, which was attended by three hundred guests from the economic, business, academic and institutional sectors.
She wore a set from the designer's Pre-Fall 2015 collection featuring a top with feather and bead applique on the sleeves, and a matching pencil skirt.
Letizia kept her accessories simple but made a statement with a new pair of dazzling diamond and ruby chandelier earrings, which she complemented with cherry red lipstick. Unfortunately we don't know the origin of these sparkling beauties.
Here's a closer look at her Felipe Varela satin clutch bag and black LODI straight-cut vamp patent pumps.
Letizia swept her hair up in a side braided up-do.
The King of Spain celebrated his birthday today but there was no day off for the 49 year old monarch! He was joined by Queen Letizia at the Royal Palace of Madrid for the final act of commemorations marking the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes who wrote the classic novel ‘Don Quixote'.
The year-long commemorations for the Spanish author began in 2016 and today Their Majesties attended the the closing ceremony celebrating the work of the Spanish author.
Queen Letizia recycled a Felipe Varela separates outfit for the occasion. It consists of a red jacket with scallop edges and a matching high-waisted pencil skirt.
The skirt suit dates back to 2009 and Letizia has worn it on several occasions since its debut:
Taking inspiration from the last time she wore the ensemble, Queen Letizia accessorized with her Carolina Herrera 'Maysa' clutch bag.
On her feet she wore red snakeskin D'Orsay heels, a bespoke version of Magrit's 'Alicia' style which she recently premiered at the Gold Medals of Merit in Fine Arts ceremony in December 2016.
She finished the look with her gold filigree hoop earrings.
The King and Queen of Spain hosted the annual Diplomatic Corps reception at the Royal Palace of Madrid this evening.
Their Majesties greeted foreign diplomats and ambassadors as they arrived in the palace's Throne Room.
Queen Letizia looked resplendent in a bordeaux red Felipe Varela gown, featuring tonal lace detailing throughout.
Here's a better look at the back of the dress.
She debuted the gown for the same event in 2013:
Her Majesty complemented the outfit with a new pair of burgundy suede pointed-toe pumps which we only got a glimpse of.
ID UPDATE (29 MAY 2017):
Queen Letizia wore the pumps again for the Madrid Book Fair and we were able to get a better look at the shoes which helped us identify them. They are by Spanish footwear brand LODI.
Queen Letizia made an interesting choice in the jewelry department today. She accessorized her haute couture gown with a new pair of costume earrings by Portuguese brand, Parfois. The multi-stone 'Garden Blooms' stud earrings have a budget price tag of only £5.99! Unfortunately the earrings have sold out in the multi-red colour, but are currently available in multi-blue.
Her Majesty Queen Letizia of Spain presided over the presentation of the XXVII Tomás Francisco Prieto Prize today. She delivered the award to artist Mitsuo Miura and diplomas to students of Master in Media of Graphic Printing, Illustration and Artistic Coinmaking.
Queen Letizia arrived at the Mint Museum in Madrid wrapped up in a black coat featuring a contrast collar and belt (brand unknown).
She took off the coat for the ceremony to reveal her dove grey Felipe Varela set consisting of a pleated knee-length skirt and collarless jacket with a beaded trim along the neckline, placket and cuffs.
Letizia has favored this classic two-piece set on several occasions since it debuted in January 2008 for a lunch with the then president of Yemen, Ali Abdullah Saleh.
Queen Letizia accessorized the suit with her dark grey platform suede pumps by Magrit and Hugo Boss clutch in a matching fabric.
She topped off her look with her dainty Chanel Comète Earrings.
The King & Queen of Spain undertook their first public engagement of the New Year today.
Their Majesties presided over the traditional celebration of the Pascua Militar, which is deeply rooted in the Spanish military and dates back to 1782 during the reign of Carlos III. The ceremony is held annually on the day of Epiphany at the Royal Palace of Madrid.
Following the parade, King Felipe and Queen Letizia made their way to the Throne Room within the Palace to meet officials from the Government, the Ministry of Defence and the Civil Guard.
It was a case of déjà vu in the fashion department for the Queen of Spain. Dressed in a customary full length dress, Queen Letizia wore the same teal green Felipe Varela gown she donned to the same event in 2015.
She also coordinated the look with the same tonal suede accessieres by Magrit.
Letizia did however change up the look with a beautiful braided up-do and her COOLOOK 'Sarin' earrings.
This is not the only occassion Letizia has opted to repeat a look she has previously worn to this event. In 2008 & 2009 she wore the same outfit consisting of a light sage jacket she debuted in 2005. In 2014 Letizia re-wore a blue ensemble she originally sported in 2012. Here's a look back at Letizia's past outfits for the Pascua Militar ceremony:
--------
Later that afternoon, the Spanish royal family were pictured leaving Zarzuela Palace in a minivan en route to the home of Letizia's father for private celebrations marking the Feast of the Epiphany.
Her Majesty donned a new navy military-style jacket and TOUS gold long dangle earrings.
The velvet jacket is the Mango Military style coat (US$169.99).
