The King and Queen of Spain accompanied by their daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia, presided over the 2022 Princess of Asturias Awards ceremony held at the Campoamor Theater in Oviedo.
Upon arrival they followed the tradition of walking the blue carpet with Queen Sofia.
The Awards recognize the scientific, technical, cultural, social and humanitarian work carried out at an international level by individuals, institutions or groups of individuals or institutions. They are granted in eight categories: the Arts, Literature, Social Sciences, Communication and Humanities, Technical and Scientific Research, International Cooperation, Concord and Sports.
16-year-old Leonor, Princess of Asturias addressed the attendees during the awards ceremony which bears her title.
This event is one of the most anticipated on the Spanish royal calendar and we are always excited to see what Her Majesty will premier for this annual gala.
Tonight, she opted for a black & white short-sleeve dress by Carolina Herrera. The silk dress features a long wrap-front skirt and a contrasting embellished yoke. The cocktail dress was part of the designer's Fall 2018 collection.
On her feet were her Isabel Abdó 'Carrie' Slingback Pumps in Black Suede.
She accessorized with her Qatari diamond chandelier earrings which were a gift from the Emir of Qatar and his wife.

The Spanish royal family have travelled to Ovedia this week for the annual Princess of Asturias Awards.
On the eve of the Awards Ceremony, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, accompanied by their daughters, Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía attended the XXX Princess of Asturias Award Concert at the Príncipe Felipe Auditorium.

For the first four years since attending in her role as Queen consort, Letizia relied on Felipe Varela to outfit her for the annual concert. In 2018 she dropped the Spanish couturier and has since worn a mix of designers.
Queen Letizia, Honorary President of UNICEF Spain and Advocate for the Mental Health of Children and Adolescents, attended a World Mental Health Day 2022 event in Madrid ahead of World Mental Health Day on October 10th.
This year’s campaign’s theme is “Mental health and well-being for all people as a global priority.”

The King and Queen of Spain attended the State Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey in London on Monday to bid farewell to the monarch they affectionately called 'Aunt Lilibet'.
They gathered with 2000 mourners, including other monarchs and heads of state.
Inside the Abbey, Their Majesties sat alongside Felipe's parents, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, and were surrounded by other royals from around the world. Thanks to family ties that date back generations, many European royals have a close relationship to the British royal family.
Queen Letizia looked sombre in all black, while King Felipe VI wore his military uniform.
The dress is by Carolina Herrera and the design was part of the Pre-Fall 2018 collection. The long-sleeved frock features a round neckline and decorative buttons at the shoulders. The A-line skirt is accented with side pleats and hits at the knee. Queen Letizia had it extended to a midi length.
The Spanish queen wore a black veiled headpiece, handmade by Cherubina's in-house milliner.
It is the aptly named 'Elisabeth' halo (€250), made from bouclé and finished with a bow at the back and net veil.
Letizia carried her Giorgio Armani La Charniere Doree Top Handle Bag, and on her feet were her black Manolo Blahnik BB snakeskin-embossed pumps.
She finished the solemn look with her Chanel 'Plume' earrings.
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia visited the UK Embassy in Madrid this afternoon to sign the book of condolences on the occasion of the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
Their Majesties were greeted by Hugh Elliott, the UK Ambassador to Spain before moving inside to write their condolences.

The Spanish royal family have made their annual summer trip to Mallorca where they will attend official events before having a private vacation. On Sunday evening, Queen Letizia presided over the closing ceremony of the 12th edition of the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest at the La Misericordia Cultural Center in Palma.
Atlàntida Film Fest was launched in 2011 as the first online film festival in Spain. The objective was to introduce the public to the best international films that could not find a place in theatres.

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain hosted an official dinner at the Royal Palace on Tuesday for Heads of States and Governments attending the NATO Summit in Madrid.

The King and Queen of Spain attended the opening gala commemorating the Vth centenary of the death of Antonio de Nebrija.
Held at the at the Teatro Real in Madrid, the gala kicked off a series of events which will honor and make known one of Spain's great thinkers and humanists.

The Queen of Spain attended the 21st 'Ciudad de Tudela' Opera Prima Film Festival, at Moncayo Cinema, Tudela (Navarra).
The Ciudad de Tudela' Opera Prima Film Festival is the only Spanish competition specialising in the debut works of filmmakers, it aims to disseminate and appreciate, as well as reward, works that, in some cases, do not have the resources or means to make themselves known. The films presented go through a selection process from which only seven are chosen, which are eligible to be presented for the awards. These seven films are also screened during the days of the Festival.
Her Majesty presented the Tribute-Award for Don Fernando Fernán-Gómez (1921-2007) to his son, Fernando Fernán-Gómez; the Tribute-Award for Don Juan Antonio Bardem (1922-2002) to his daughter, María Bardem and the Tribute-Award for Don Luis García Berlanga (1921-2010) to his grandson, Jorge García Berlanga. To conclude the event, Her Majesty had a brief meeting with the families of the honorees, the organisers of the Festival and the members of the jury.

The King and Queen of Spain presided over the delivery of the XXXVIII edition of the 'Francisco Cerecedo' Journalism Award, at the Hotel Mandarín Oriental Ritz, Madrid.
As honorary president of the Association of European Journalists, King Felipe VI presented American journalist, historian, columnist and writer Anne Applebaum the winner of the 'Francisco Cerecedo' Journalism Award "for her research and outreach work on authoritarianism and new populist phenomena".
The award is granted by the APE to highlight those careers that deserve this honour for their talent, originality, ability to transgress the pressures and influences of the powers and promote freedom of expression. The award, sponsored by BBVA, is endowed with €24,000 and a medal designed by the sculptor Julio López Hernández.
