Below is a video of Their Majesties arriving at the 'Prince Felipe' Congress Hall Auditorium in Oviedo.

The annual
orchestral concert is the opening event for the Princess of Asturias Awards where the Spanish royals present a series of prizes, which are given to people or organisations from around the globe who make notable achievements in science, humanities and public affairs. It is considered a prestigious cultural event

In the first four years since attending in her role as Queen consort, Letizia would rely on Felipe Varela to outfit her for the annual concert.

However, last year she dropped the Spanish couturier in favor of an off-the-rack little black dress by Italian luxury brand Emporio Armani.

This year, Queen Letizia showcased a new designer and wore a striking set by Spanish label, The 2nd Skin Co.

The nude-tone strapless top has  a textured crinkle pleat throughout the body, and is topped with box pleats and ostrich feathers at the neckline. The waistline is defined by a black ribbon belt and diamante buckle. The top will set you back €680. The wool straight-leg trousers can be purchased separately for €550.

Hello! Thank you for updating the blog :) I like the top! I don't know if you have noticed but it seems to me there is some issue with the Getty images embedded in all previous posts... May I suggest to use other agencies? Thanks as always for your job!

Hi Valerie, thanks for stopping by! I'm aware there are issues with some Getty Images. They resolved earlier issues but then it impacted other embed images. I trust (hope) they will fix them all in due time!

The feathery top reminds me of Las Vegas showgirls. The pants are fine but I don't think there was a need for the belt. It doesn't serve any purpose and throws the whole outfit off. I think Letizia should have stayed with Varela for this event. His creations from past years were far superior.

Las Vegas? I would have said Paris-La France, where the feathers come across as very elegant in most of the gala dresses, hats, etc...and this type of tops called , Basques in France.

Notice the feathers on QL's top is done much nicer than the one on the runway model. I like the Paris, France analogy.

There is a je ne said quoi quality to it.

It's the stark contrast of beige vs black. It's the unusual use of the belt which I wasn't sure about at first but I ultimately liked. Perhaps if the belt was an inch shorter like it was displayed on the model.

(Only thing I would change is the texture of the shoe. Wearing snakeskin with this outfit is kinda contradictory. I don't care if they are Manolos. Pumps, yes perhaps satin ones.

This outfit is fun, flirty and sophisticated in a playful sort of way. Letizia totally rocks it! That said, I don't think it is an appropriate look for a Queen to wear at any time. Call me overly conservative, but I find this outfit lacking in dignity, one expects from Royalty.

That'shat's right, bold Letizia. That's her personality.
In fact it is considered a private act with her husband, despite being phocographic, so there is no protocol and she only shows the same a gala dress shows.

This is a superb outfit. The Queen looks stunning. The pants are divine. She carries this off perfectly. Love the accessories. Teardrop earrings are gorgeous.

This look could be fabulous and so nearly is, but it misses the mark ever so slightly in the dull choice of shoes and I find the updo a little limp and severe. I appreciate that the hairstyle had to work for two completely different outfits and had to have the holding power for several hours at least. I think a style that was equally as youthful but neater and lifted off of the face would have been lighter for both events. Reproducing a full runway look can be thought of as unimaginative, but these black pumps fail to enhance the set further. They also add weight in the bottom half of the ensemble and the opportunity is lost in echoing the whimsical nature of ostrich feathers. I understand that the pumps ground the look and are likely to be considered more regal than a party sandal, but I would have liked to have seen this look pushed to the maximum with a more daring shoe choice. After sandals being worn to El Mundos 30th anniversary, I would have suggested Spanish designer Manolo Blahnik's ankle strap sandals which are similar to those sported by the model. The suede and PVC mix has been achieved elegantly, much like her MB Gotrianc slingbacks. Or, perhaps a style with some tiny crystals over the toe strap, which would have coordinated with the heavenly diamond earrings and crystals on the buckle of the belt. I adore the drama of this look, it's high impact and fashion driven, with the ruched taffeta and opulent feathers which burst from the tiered fans. The clean sharp tailoring of the trousers neutralises the femininity of the soft blush, a contrast of dark and moody against romantic and light. Minor quibble, I wish Letizia's trousers were just slightly fuller in the leg for a dressier effect, (The 2nd Skin Co. look wider) this would have improved the proportions of the look. I think this is a huge improvement on the Emporio Armani's black dress worn last year which was a perfectly piece but lacked the extravagance this event requires.

Jennifer, I like the second shoe you selected and agree that it would have been better with this outfit, over the rather business wear looking, snakeskin pumps. However, I still feel this outfit is too Las Vegas showgirl (as Sandy states) for Royalty.

Hi Laura, thanks for your comment, I'm pleased you liked one of the shoe links! Second to the Queen's work ethic one of the main reasons I follow her is because she is so modern and daring (by royal standards) While I didn't find this ensemble costume like, I can understand the association with Vegas and show girls. Where Letizia's choices are often experimental her looks will inevitably lead to differing opinions on outfits such as this. They create such good conversation points for all of us though!

Wow!

What an outfit. Bravo QL! For choosing something outside of the box. Amazing she actually looks 10x better in it than the runway model. Love the pink feathers top with a belt that goes all the way down to her ankles! She looks amazing even in the pic where it shows the back of the outfit.

Great of both of them to pose for a pic with the crowd outside. They must have been thrilled.

This outfit is definitely one of my favs of hers! :D

This top is a pretty colour on Queen Letizia but it is unbalanced and top 'heavy'. There is too much 'shrubbery' around the bust line for my liking. It looks like it is sprouting feathers and is perhaps uncomfortable to wear. Is a backless top OK to wear on an occasion such as this? She does look smart in her top and trousers but the top is not to my taste.

Wow, Letizia does disco!! I'm usually averse to feathers on outfits but the Queen rocks them! The top is exquisite with its intricate textured fabric, and the feathers are craftily worked to spring out of the top ruffle pleat, it's very much a stagey top and suits the occasion. The neat crop pants are perfect and sassy, hooray for the innovative Second Skin Co. My only quibble is to regret that one end of the long belt seems to be almost to the floor, but it could easily happen with satin. Snakeskin Blahniks and satin Magrit clutch both up the vamp factor, but unobtrusively. Only the earrings look a little heavy but hard to tell in the photos. A nicely judged outfit.
