The AEJ brings together individual journalists through their membership of the national sections. It was set up in 1962 in the then six EEC-countries by 70 journalists, who were committed to the need for European integration in a democratic way, determined to defend the freedom of information and press in Europe.

The Francisco Cerecedo Journalism Award is held annually by the AEJ under the sponsorship of BBVA. A monetary prize of €24,000 is endowed along with a medal designed by the sculptor Julio López Hernández. This years recipient was Vicente Vallés, director and presenter of Noticias 2 of Antena 3, 'in recognition of the rigour, independence and depth with which he has been carrying out his work in the television medium during the last decades'.

Has the slit on the dress been enlarged? It certainly didn't show this much leg back in 2018. This is a classic black dress and as such is very plain. Therefore I wish Letizia wore some standout jewellery to jazz it up a bit. Other than the slit, this is something that could be worn to a funeral. I like the clutch and shoes. I recall the black dress with gold metallic flowers that was worn to this event in 2019. Now that dress was amazing!

"All black" is very common for a party at least in Paris, Rome or Madrid. It Is considered the most elegant thing, this is an Armani, less is more.
If you go to a party in Paris, wear always black, you will never go wrong.

Also, in Europe, we are all in mourning and suffering with lots of people diying every day and lockdownd.., I do not know in your country...

Many people are dying in my country also. The world is in great crisis. My point that the dress needed jewellery was to brighten it up a bit. To me the very solemn dress and the high slit on the leg seems at odds. The all black suggests being conservative, the slit suggests a party.

She is not wearing any jewelry because she has not any, they belong to the state (and the governmet is not in the mood for ostentation, she needs to ask permision to don the jewels), and in this crisis times, it is not appropiate, in my opinion, obviously I have not spokenk with her. They go where the governmet sends them.

That's right Wendy, moreover the King has the same salary some years ago, and can't afford jewelry, if people would see them buying and wearing jewels, they could send them to the exile.
You are in the wrong country for ostentation. I must say that Letizia is not very interested in ostentation, she comes from a middle class family, so she understand things. This event was about journalism (awards) , her real subject.
Felipe's rol is kind of the President of a Republic as Germany, Ireland, Portugal, etc..and many people are asking to change the Constitution to set up a referendum, they need to survive.

I accept the fact that wearing jewellery could be seen at ostentatious. But surely wearing Armani that cost in the range of $1,000 is not being frugal.

Laura, probably, but it is a repeit, (it cost 600 euros in Spain) and she does not need to ask to the government for the jewelry, they could send her to the hell. The vicepresident of the governmet is openly communist...I think I have said all....have you heard about Guillotine? As Wendy said the jewels are "ours" not "hers", she must wear them at very important events, when the government DECIDES, not her. She comes from a middle class family so she has not got family jewels, so she can't decide, the governmet decides This is not an Absolut Monarchy, if not a Parlamentary Monarchy, the King has not any power to do anything.
In UK the Queen has ejecutive power, here they don't.

Laura! The jewels are in a Museum, not at her house. Watch out the logistic to wear them!! 🤔

I think the dress is beautiful and classy, however I have seen a few comments on another site criticizing the high slit as being inappropriate for a queen to wear in this setting. Any thoughts on that ?

The concept of "queen" ("Reina" in Spanish) is different than in the English spoken countries as it seems, I doubt that Spanish people has said anything because a "slit" which is very Spanish and very Italian, French, etc.., our culture is different
Also the Queens in Spain always has dressed very edgy, you only need to se photos or paintings...
You only need to remember when Letizia wore a dress who belonged to Queen Sofia and many people rolled their eyes....Sofia used to wear edgier clothes than Letizia...this is Spain.

"Being appropiate for a Queen"?
Have you ever seen paintings of Marie Antoniette, Victoria Eugenia of Battenberg (Queen of Spain), Elizabeth of Baviera?
The clothes of a "Queen" have never been "modest", in fact they were known by their "lively" life. Some people nowadays have not very clear that a "queen" is not a nun.

Also, in UK, the Queen is the head of the Anglican Church.
Spain, however is a secular country, the King has not any relation with the church, it is his private life, he can have any religion or none..., in fact Letizia is not "very" religious...they only attend a mass at funerals, weddings, in Mallorca because it is a tradition...

By the way, Queen Sofía is Greek Orthodox, not Catholic as she comes from Greece.

"Another site" but not Spanish. Here it is ridiculous, have you seen what she wore in 2017?
She is the Queen of Spain, those things are normal here, nobody has said a word.
Things have their context and culture.

This a an elegant, simple yet glamorous dress that is perfect for an evening event. The side ruffle adds enough interest to keep it from being just another "little black dress". And that strategically placed slit is just modest enough to not be too distracting.

This ensemble is quietly elegant, which I am sure was the intention. All of the pieces are of quality, but overall it fails to ignite excitement. I find the stretch jersey, ruffle detail and black courts unextraordinary. However, the Queen is beautifully polished and her glossy waves add further femininity to the classic look. I am sure this outfit will be critiqued most favourably.

This outfit is modern and classic. The Armani dress is nice, but the overall look, lacks sparkle. Regardless the Queen looks well groomed and elegant. The knot clutch and shoes are perfect choices. Her soft flowing hair looks well styled, very feminine. Flashback photos, 2019 would have to be my favourite ensemble, simply stunning dress.

Good point Ava, that 2019 van Noten is a real winner!

Overjoyed to see this gorgeous Armani again, Letizia looks sensational. The pic of her showing some leg and with hair flying looks set to become iconic and is seriously impressive for a woman in her late forties. I love how the sheath shape hugs her figure while also accommodating some major fashion ruffle without cluttering the look.

At least the unfortunate flapper dress has been safely retired, I just hope the present age of recycle doesn't cause it to resurface. Her classic hoop earrings, black Blahnik courts and Bottega Veneta clutch are perfect. Clever to use textured shoes and bag against the smooth dress fabric, contrast without overkill.
