Queen Letizia looks resplendent in red for gala honoring President of Colombia & First Lady3/5/2023
King Felipe and Queen Letizia hosted a State gala dinner on Wednesday evening in honor of the President of Colombia, Gustavo Francisco Petro, and the First Lady, Verónica Alcocer, who are on a two-day State Visit to Spain, at the Royal Palace of Madrid.
In the Throne Room, they received greetings from the attending Spanish and Colombian authorities and guests before moving onto the Gala dining room for the banquet.
A look at the elegant setting.
Queen Letizia debuted an off-the-rack red gown by her go-to fashion designer, Carolina Herrera.
Herrera skillfully incorporates a touch of feminine charm into the understated refinement of this fitted A-line gown. Soft ruffles delicately adorn the cap sleeves, and a partial peplum gracefully wraps around the waist, enhancing the gown's silhouette. The dress is exquisitely crafted from fluid, double-faced georgette and features a bateau-neck style, adding to its overall sophistication.
Queen Letizia wore the Order of Boyacá sash (Columbia) with a diamond bow brooch.
This is the first time we have seen Her Majesty wear this heirloom piece which was last worn by her mother-in-law, Queen Sofia. The Spanish Royal Jewels blog goes into great detail about its provenance if you would like to read more.
Tonight, Queen Letizia complemented her regal style with the Floral Tiara, a diadem she has donned on many occasions, and was arguably her favorite when she was the Princess of Asturias. The tiara features floral motifs with scrolling diamond vines and leaves, set in platinum.
