The Spanish royal family made a surprise appearance in Madrid on Saturday to attend the procession of Our Lady of Solitude and Forsakenness and the Passage of the Most Holy Recumbent Christ on Holy Saturday, as part of the Holy Week celebrations in the Spanish capital.

The King and Queen of Spain, accompanied by their eldest daughter, Princess Leonor, were seen dining in the historical town of La Almunia de Doña Godina after picking her up from her military training school before the Easter break. The restaurant within Hotel El Patio shared a photo on their Instagram account, featuring the royal family posing with the hotel staff.

On Monday, Queen Letizia attended a ceremony in Madrid to present Social Action grants from the Mutua Madrileña Foundation to 34 NGO projects.

The aid is awarded to non-profit entities focusing on several crucial areas: disability, the labor integration of young people at risk of exclusion, combating gender violence, assisting children with health problems and/or facing exclusion, supporting the elderly and homeless, and promoting development cooperation.
The Spanish queen donned a new red tweed jacket for the occasion, a piece lovingly crafted by the Association for the Prevention, Reintegration, and Care of Prostituted Women (APRAMP).

The event, jointly organized by the European Commission and the Government, coincided with the 20th anniversary of the tragic attacks that shook Madrid in 2004, claiming the lives of 192 individuals and leaving 1,893 injured.
