The Instituto Cervantes is the public institution created by Spain in 1991 to universally promote the teaching, study and use of Spanish and to contribute to the dissemination of Hispanic cultures abroad. It is named after Miguel de Cervantes (1547–1616), who is considered the most important figure in the history of Spanish literature.  The organisation is present in 88 cities in 45 countries, through its centres, classrooms and extensions, on the five continents. In addition, it has two offices in Spain, the headquarters in Madrid and the headquarters in Alcalá de Henares.

Queen Letizia brings back vintage Caramelo coat for visit to renovated monastery in Madrid

2/12/2021

The Queen of Spain presided over the reopening of the renovated 'Monasterio de las Descalzas Reales' in Madrid, which will receive visitors after a 20-month closure. It does so after a major museum renovation that affects 8 of its rooms and the restoration of more than 50 works and the installation of a new lighting system with LED technology.

During Her Majesties visit, she received a guided tour of the exhibition accompanied by the curators Ana García Sanz and Carmen García-Frías, met with National Heritage employees, and had a brief meeting with the religious community.
The Monasterio de las Descalzas Reales, literally the 'Monastery of the Royal Discalced', resides in the former palace of Emperor Charles V and Empress Isabel of Portugal. Their daughter, Joanna of Austria, founded this convent of nuns of the Poor Clare order in 1559. Throughout the remainder of the 16th century and into the 17th century, the convent attracted young widowed and unmarried noblewomen. Each woman brought with her a dowry. The riches accumulated, and the convent became one of the richest in Europe.

Over time the demographics of the convent changed, and by the 20th century, all of the sisters were in poverty. The convent maintained the riches of its past, but it was forbidden to auction any of the items off or spend any of the money it received from the dowries. The state intervened when it saw that the sisters were poor, and the Pope granted a special dispensation to open the convent as a museum in 1960.

Letizia again teamed it with her glen check Hugo Boss pantsuit. It consists of the BOSS 'Jalorra' Double Breasted Wool Jacket and wide-leg trousers in a matching glen check pattern. I have still not been able to find a stock photo of the coordinating pants.
