King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia travelled to The Netherlands on Saturday to attend a private dinner celebrating King Willem-Alexander‘s 50th birthday.
The Spanish royals were photographed leaving their hotel to attend the birthday party of the Dutch king held at the Royal Stables in The Hague.
Her Majesty looked dazzling in a lipstick red gown by Stella McCartney.
The designer's 'Cecilia' gown is fashioned with an asymmetrical cape train and is available for pre-order at Saks Fifth Avenue with a price tag of US$2,765.
This marked the first occasion the Spanish queen had stepped out in a design from the English fashion designer, which perhaps signals that Her Majesty is experimenting with British brands ahead of the UK State visit in July!
Queen Letizia elevated her look with a new pair of tonal red platform heels. Magrit confirmed they manufactured the bespoke sandals.
She added some eye-catching accessories to the outfit. The metallic silver clutch complemented her "joyas de pasar" diamond cuff bracelets perfectly. The two stacked bracelets are a legacy from Queen Ena of Spain, her husband’s great-grandmother.
We originally thought the bag was new, however Letizia was first spotted carrying it at the wedding of Prince Nikolaos of Greece in August 2010. It's reportedly by Felipe Varela (unconfirmed).
Queen Letizia then finished off flawlessly with her diamond and ruby chandelier earrings which she debuted in February.
I have to say, this is one of my favourite looks on Queen Letizia! What did you think of it?

The Queen of Spain attended the 4th Educational Congress of Rare Diseases today, held at the CEU Cardinal Herrera University.
The meeting was organised by the private university in Valencia and the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases (FEDER), of which Her Majesty is honorary president.
Following the conference, Queen Letizia visited nearby educational centers and meet staff and students.
For her day in Valencia, Queen Letizia brought back an elegant ensemble she premiered on the final day of the State visit to Portugal in November 2016.
The pearl grey coat and dress set is from the CH Carolina Herrera Fall 2016 range. The double-wool coat features a cocoon silhouette which channels an elegant vintage vibe and is designed with a funnel neck and contrasting purple underside. I believe the coat may be reversible. The matching dress is sleeveless and comes with an attached self-belt that ties at the front. The garments are only available at flagship Carolina Herrera stores.
Letizia supplemented the outfit with the same accessories she wore when she debuted the set. She carried her grey Hugo Boss suede flap clutch, and on her feet she wore the Magrit 'Mila' snake-effect pumps.
Letizia tweaked the look with different jewelery. Today she opted for her Coolook 'Papiro' earrings.
On the second and final day of the visit to the Canary Islands, Queen Letizia started the tour of Tenerife, the largest island of the Canaries, in a familiar look.
She wore her crisp white Felipe Varela Saharan-inspired bouclé skirt suit.
Letizia first wore the separates in June 2015 during an official visit to Paris, France. She repeated the outfit a couple weeks later in Rome, when she was appointed UN Special Ambassador for Nutrition. In October 2016 she finally wore the set on home soil at a seminar marking the 25th Anniversary of the Ibero-American Cooperation.
Today, Queen Letizia complemented the outfit with the same gold-tone accessories she wore on the first two occasions she wore the suit. They are the Adolfo Domínguez python clutch and Uterque gilded pumps.
Letizia styled her wavy hair with a braided front and wore her TOUS cultured freshwater pearl drop earrings.
Queen Letizia changed her outfit for the afternoon engagements and opted for a combination of white and navy.
She debuted a white Adolfo Dominguez short-sleeve cold shoulder top (€160). The elegant blouse features cold shoulder slits and a mandarin collar with a central keyhole opening in the front. It fastens with a concealed side zipper.
Queen Letizia teamed the blouse with her blue Hugo Boss croc-embossed leather skirt. The fitted skirt is part of a set, and this is the first time she has worn it without the matching jacket since its debut in February 2013.
Letizia accessorized with her navy CH Carolina Herrera 'Baret' flap clutch bag and Magrit 'Laura' pumps.
Always a stickler for coordination the Queen further married the navy/white colour scheme by wearing her complementary TOUS blue stone and mother of pearl dangle earrings.
The King and Queen of Spain travelled to the Canary Islands today for a two-day visit of Spain's archipelago located off the west coast of Africa on the North Atlantic Ocean.
Their Majesties visit to the Canaries marks their first as reigning monarchs. During their whirlwind tour of Gran Canaria and Tenerife, they will carry out an intense program of activities and meetings with entrepreneurs, researchers, business leaders, charity organisations and university students, as well as greeting locals.
Queen Letizia arrived on the island of Gran Canaria wearing her Carolina Herrera jasmine printed sheath dress.
It has become one of her favourites and this is the fourth occasion Letizia has worn it since its New York debut in September 2016.
She accessorised with her Lodi 'Debra' bordeaux patent heels and a new red flap clutch bag.
ID UPDATE (12 JUL 2017)
Letizia carried the bag again on Day 1 if the State Visit to the UK which showed a flamingo logo on the front. It was identified as the Menbur 'Malva' clutch (€174.95).
Letizia finished the outfit with her Chanel 'Plume' earrings.
For the evening engagements, Letizia changed up her look and opted for a pretty blouse and wide leg trousers.
We first got a glimpse of the dusty pink blouse when she wore it with her Felipe Varela pant suit at the 2nd Congress of Rare Childhood Diseases in April 2015.
The Victorian-style blouse with frilly trim and pintuck detail is by Adolfo Dominguez.
The back of the top features a buttoned placket.
She paired the blouse with her HUGO Hugo Boss 'Hotaru' Stretch Crepe Wide Leg Trousers.
Letizia complemented the outfit with her white Uterque croc-embossed clutch and a new pair of mauve patent leather heels with pointed toe.
They are the Patrizia Pepe Mary Jane Block Heel Pumps.
She rounded-off her outfit with her TOUS ruby, emerald and moonstone earrings.
The King and Queen of Spain attended the prestigious Cervantes Award ceremony today held at the University of Alcalá on the outskirts of Madrid.
The prize is one of the most regarded literary awards in Spain and Latin America, and is granted annually to honour the lifetime achievement of an eminent writer in the Spanish language. This year it was awarded to the Spanish novelist, Eduardo Mendoza Garriga.
Queen Letizia repeated the exact outfit she wore to last year's National Day parade, recycling each piece from head-to-toe.
Coincidently, for the Cervantes Award ceremony in 2016, Letizia repeated her 2015 National Day outfit. Perhaps this is a new sartorial tradition Her Majesty is instigating! We'll have to wait until next year to see if she does it again!
The ensemble consists of an off-white Felipe Varela tweed coat-dress with black beaded floral motif.
She teamed the elegant dress with her natural slub envelope clutch and pumps by Magrit.
Letizia finished the look with her white gold bezel set diamond and Australian pearl earrings.
The King and Queen of Spain hosted the pre-ceremony lunch of the 'Miguel de Cervantes' award today.
Held at the Royal Palace of Madrid, the lunch brings together authorities, academics, editors, critics, teachers, booksellers and writers to honor the award-winner on the eve of the ceremony of delivery, which will take place at the University of Alcalá.

Today's lunch was the second literary engagement in less than 24 hours for Her Majesty, who last night attended the Children's Literary Awards wearing a youthful bardot top. This afternoon, Letizia opted for a more conventional look, repeating her Felipe Varela colour-block dress.
She first wore the sheath dress at ARCO 2015.
Today she reworked the dress with her neutral Prada Patent Pointy-Toe patent pumps.
Letizia also kept her jewelry simple, opting for a pair of classic pearl stud earrings.
For her first public engagement of the week, the Queen of Spain presented two children/youth literature awards, “El Barco de Vapor” and “Gran Angular”.
The annual awards in Madrid are organised by the SM Foundation whose goal is to promote youth-focused books and reading.
Queen Letizia opted for a fashion-forward ensemble, pairing a youthful white off-the-shoulder blouse with classic black wide-leg trousers.
The top has been identified as the Hugo Boss 'Bagiana' Stretch Cotton Carmen Blouse (US$215). It is currently available in white at Saks Fifth Ave or in turquoise blue at Hugo Boss USA.
The Bardot-style blouse has a signature elasticized off-the-shoulder neckline. The top features long-sleeves with button barrel cuffs. Made from stretch cotton, the top is finished with a concealed back zip.
Letizia offset the white blouse with her black Uterque straight cut trousers with bow detail.
She opted for metallic accessories, combining her silver croc flap clutch with a new pair of strappy sandals from her go-to Spanish shoemaker, Magrit.
The sparkly sandals are the 'Hera' style (€390) featuring crossed straps made of silver metallic leather. The 11cm platform heels are finished with a side buckle.
Letizia completed the look with large hoop earrings. They are the Coolook 'Roma' earrings (€179) featuring white zirconias.
Queen Letizia's outfit was a perfect fit for this youth-oriented event and consistent with her recent adoption of edgier styles at this annual awards ceremony.
The Spanish Royals kept up their family tradition of spending the Easter holiday on the Balearic island of Mallorca.
On Sunday, King Felipe, Queen Letizia and their daughters Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofia were joined by Queen Sofia for Easter Mass at the Palma de Mallorca Cathedral for Easter Mass.
Her Majesty took inspiration from her island surroundings and choose a tonal blue ensemble.
Queen Letizia debuted a single-breasted coat from Massimo Dutti. The blue textured striped jacket is from the Spanish brand's Spring/Summer 2016 collection (sold out).
Under the coat she wore her Hugo Boss 'Banora' blouse.
She teamed the overcoat with a new pair of navy leather pants.
Some ID possibilities include the following options from Uterque: the pants on the left are from the brand's Spring 2015 collection, and the nappa leggings on the right are from the current season (£325).
Letizia accessorized the outfit added a new navy leather bag. It is the CH Carolina Herrera 'Baret' flap clutch bag which she also owns in colorblock navy/red.
She coordinated the bag with her navy suede Nina Ricci pumps.
The service is a private family affair and is not attended in an official capacity as Head of State.
Felipe & Letizia's first attendance as a couple was in 2004, when they were engaged to be married. Since then they have attended annually expect for 2007 due to the impending birth of Infanta Sofía. Here's a look back at the past Easter Sunday services attended my the Spanish royal family. It's interesting to see how their family has evolved ...

On the last day of the royal Japan visit, the King and Queen of Spain boarded a bullet train in Tokyo for a trip to the city of Shizuoka.
The Spanish monarchs were joined by the Emperor and Empress of Japan for the hour long journey on the Shinkansen train.
The foursome spent the day in Shizuoka - a Japanese prefecture in the foothills of Mount Fuji. They visited a Seismic study centre, before moving to the Fugetsuro Complex, to view an historic clock presented by King Philip III to Governor Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1611, as a token of gratitude for the rescue of the crew of the Spanish galleon San Francisco which sunk in Onjuku, to the north of Tokyo.
The whirlwind royal visit to the Land of the Rising Sun concluded with a farewell ceremony at the Shizuoka Sengen Shrine.
For the last day, Queen Letizia looked impeccable in a sharply tailored teal suit by Felipe Varela. The design is identical to her blush pink separates which she debuted in November 2013.
Her Majesty opted for perfectly matching suede pumps by Magrit and a new pewter clutch by Varela.
Letizia wore her hair pulled back in a half up-do which showed off the Chanel 'Plume' earrings.
What did you think of Queen Letizia's outfit choices for the Japanese royal visit? Vote for your favourite look below:
The Queen of Spain started Day 2 of Royal Visit Japan with a solo visit to Keio University and a tour of the Genetic Medical Center.
She arrived wearing her vibrant red Hugo Boss 'Cegina' wool/cashmere coat.
Letizia opted for a simple professional style, combining her white Hugo Boss pleated blouse with a new patterned pencil skirt also by the German brand. It is the 'Marala' model, and it is currently available from the Hugo Boss UK website (£179) and Saks Fifth Ave (US$325).
Letizia accessorized with her black Carolina Herrera clutch and pumps.
She finished her daytime look with her TOUS moonstone tear drop earrings.
Following a day of separate engagements in Toyko, the King and Queen of Spain were reunited for dinner hosted by Japan's Prime Minister, Shinzō Abe at the Akasaka Palace.
Queen Letizia made a sartorial nod to her hosts, wearing a black velvet set trimmed with cherry blossom fabric. It is currently sakura season in Japan where crowds of people flock to parks, gardens and riversides for festivals around blossoming cherry trees.
The two-piece skirt and top are new to us, but they herald from the Armani Privé Fall 2011 Couture collection. The entire collection was a homage to Japan, and Armani used Japanese visual icons - ranging from parasols to cherry blossoms in the designs, as well as obilike belts and origamilike folds. You can view the entire collection on Vogue.
Queen Letizia complemented the set with an exquisite pair of diamond and ruby earrings on loan from Queen Sofia's jewellery box. They work so well with the outfit because they resemble hanging cherries.
Like yesterday, the range of photos from this tour has been limited and so it continues to be a challenge to compile the blog with detailed images of Letizia's clothing and accessories. I will update the post if better photos become available.
