Queen Letizia cuts a chic silhouette in COS for the Opera Prima Film Festival

The Queen of Spain attended the 21st 'Ciudad de Tudela' Opera Prima Film Festival, at Moncayo Cinema, Tudela (Navarra).

The Ciudad de Tudela' Opera Prima Film Festival is the only Spanish competition specialising in the debut works of filmmakers, it aims to disseminate and appreciate, as well as reward, works that, in some cases, do not have the resources or means to make themselves known. The films presented go through a selection process from which only seven are chosen, which are eligible to be presented for the awards. These seven films are also screened during the days of the Festival.

Her Majesty presented the Tribute-Award for Don Fernando Fernán-Gómez (1921-2007) to his son, Fernando Fernán-Gómez; the Tribute-Award for Don Juan Antonio Bardem (1922-2002) to his daughter, María Bardem and the Tribute-Award for Don Luis García Berlanga (1921-2010) to his grandson, Jorge García Berlanga. To conclude the event, Her Majesty had a brief meeting with the families of the honorees, the organisers of the Festival and the members of the jury.

Queen Letizia wears pink for the FPdGi School of the Year 2020 Award

The King and Queen of Spain presented the Princess of Girona Foundation (FPdGi) 'School of the Year 2020 Award' to Colegio Rural Agrupado (CRA) Mestra Clara Torres, in Tui (Pontevedra). The FPdGi School of the Year Award aims to disseminate the work of the awarded centres and promote their visibility to help make them benchmarks in innovative education.

The CRA Mestra Clara Torres has five classrooms in different parishes of Tui: Areas, Pexegueiro, Baldrans, Ribadelouro, and Guillarei. It was recognised for "being an example of dynamisation in rural environments, through the participation and involvement of families and members of the community of which they are part".

During Their Majesties visit, they toured the facilities, held a meeting with the young people of the 'Teacher Generation' - a program of the FPdGi that selects future teachers to carry out their internships in rural reference schools, and presented the School of the Year 2020 Award.

As honorary president of the Association of European Journalists, King Felipe VI presented American journalist, historian, columnist and writer Anne Applebaum the winner of the 'Francisco Cerecedo' Journalism Award "for her research and outreach work on authoritarianism and new populist phenomena".

The award is granted by the APE to highlight those careers that deserve this honour for their talent, originality, ability to transgress the pressures and influences of the powers and promote freedom of expression. The award, sponsored by BBVA, is endowed with €24,000 and a medal designed by the sculptor Julio López Hernández.

​The royal family presented the Exemplary Town of Asturias Award 2021 to the village, for “embodying the model of a mountain town that has known how to adapt to the new times”.

They unveiled a commemorative plaque before visiting a woodcraft workshop and the stone fountain. They also visited the Santa María parish complex and signed the Somiedo Natural Park Book of Honor.
To conclude their visit to the town, Princess Leonor presented the Exemplary People of Asturias Award 2021 and both she and King Felipe made speeches.

Upon arrival they followed the tradition of walking the blue carpet with Queen Sofia.​

The Awards recognize the scientific, technical, cultural, social and humanitarian work carried out at an international level by individuals, institutions or groups of individuals or institutions. They are granted in eight categories: the Arts, Literature, Social Sciences, Communication and Humanities, Technical and Scientific Research, International Cooperation, Concord and Sports.

15-year-old Leonor, Princess of Asturias addressed the attendees during the awards ceremony which bears her title. ​
The Awards Ceremony is considered one of the most important cultural events on the international calendar. Throughout their history, the Awards have received recognition from a variety of sources, such as the UNESCO declaration in 2004 acknowledging their extraordinary contribution to the cultural heritage of humanity. ​You can watch the full ceremony via YouTube:
This event is one of the most anticipated on the Spanish royal calendar and we are always excited to see what Her Majesty will premier for this annual gala.

Tonight she opted for a 1950's inspired midi dress by The 2nd Skin Co. The black taffeta dress features a voluminous skirt topped with bows of the same fabric.  The sleeveless dress is part of the label's Spring/Summer 2022 "Magna Magnolia" collection.

Letizia added a black skinny leather belt to help define the waist, and she kept the look monochromatic with her Manolo Blahnik snakeskin embossed pumps, and Bottega Veneta 'Knot' clutch.

Completing the look were the joyas de pasar diamond chanton earrings, and two stacked diamond bracelets also from the collection of jewels designated by Queen Ena in her Will for the select use of Spanish queens.

The concert honoured, Joaquín Rodrigo (1901-1999), a Spanish composer and a virtuoso pianist, on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of his Prince of Asturias Award for the Arts.

The Princess of Asturias Awards, formerly the Prince of Asturias Awards from 1980 to 2014, are a series of annual prizes awarded in Spain by the Princess of Asturias Foundation to individuals, entities or organisations from around the world who make notable achievements in the sciences, humanities, and public affairs. The awards are presented annually in a solemn ceremony at the Campoamor Theatre in Oviedo, the capital of the Principality of Asturias, and are handed out by Leonor, Princess of Asturias, the Honorary President of the Foundation.
For the first four years since attending in her role as Queen consort, Letizia relied on Felipe Varela to outfit her for the annual concert.

Queen Letizia looks elegant in blue BOSS separates for the Cervantes Institute meeting

The King and Queen of Spain attended the annual meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Instituto Cervantes (Cervantes Institute), which was followed by a lunch with the Trustees of the Cervantes Institute and the Ibero-American Ambassadors accredited in Spain, at the Royal Palace of El Pardo, Madrid.

King Felipe VI holds the Honorary Presidency of the Cervantes Institute. It is a worldwide NPO created by the Spanish government in 1991, to universally promote the teaching, study and use of Spanish and to contribute to the dissemination of Hispanic cultures abroad. It is named after Miguel de Cervantes (1547–1616), who is considered the most important figure in the history of Spanish literature. The organisation is present in 88 cities in 45 countries, through its centres, classrooms and extensions, on the five continents.

Their Majesties awarded the 'Ñ 2021 Award', an honorary distinction created this year to recognise individuals or legal entities who have promoted the Spanish language around the world. Bárbara Fuchs, professor of Spanish and English at the University of California was awarded. During the meeting, the annual report was presented and His Majesty gave a speech.

The King and Queen of Spain presided over the award ceremony of the 'Planeta de Novela Award', a Spanish literary prize, awarded since 1952 by the Spanish publisher Grupo Planeta, on its 70th anniversary, at the Museo Nacional d’Art de Catalunya, Barcelona. ​

In 1952, José Manuel Lara, established a Novel Prize endowed with 40,000 pesetas with the desire to promote Spanish authors. Today the winner is endowed with €601,000, financially, it is the second most valuable literary award in the world after the Nobel Prize for Literature. The 70th edition of the Planeta de Novela Award has had record participation in the history of the award, 654 (Spanish language) novels were received from around the world.

After the initial greetings, Their Majesties saw a projection commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Planeta de Novela Award. After dinner, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia, along with the president of Grupo Planeta, and the finalist, Carmen Posadas, presented the Planeta de Novela Award to the winners 'Carmen Mola', three screenwriters, Agustín Martínez, Jorge Díaz and Antonio Mercero, with the novel 'La Bestia'.

The King and Queen of Spain, accompanied by their youngest daughter, Infanta Sofía, celebrated the 'National Day of Spain' (Fiesta Nacional de España) in Madrid. The eldest daughter, Leonor, Princess of Asturias, is currently studying at the UWC Atlantic College in Wales.

The National Day is an annual national holiday that commemorates the discovery of the Americas by Christopher Columbus for Spain on 12th October 1492. It is intended to solemnly remember moments of collective history that are part of the common historical, cultural and social heritage, assumed as such by the vast majority of citizens.​

Their Majesties presided over the solemn act of homage to the National Flag and the military parade held in the Plaza de Lima. ​
