The Queen of Spain held a meeting with the Confederación Salud Mental España (Spanish Mental Health Confederation) at their Headquarters in Madrid.
Her Majesty was informed of the work carried out during the COVID-19 pandemic confinement and the process of adaptation to the new circumstances, in addition to activities that are planned for the future and the urgent needs in mental health.
The Spanish Mental Health Confederation is a non-profit and social interest entity that emerged in 1983. Currently, they integrate 18 regional federations and single-province associations, which brings together more than 300 associations and more than 47,000 members throughout the state territory. The Confederation manages at the state level a catalog of social intervention programs that it offers to its member entities, so that from the local level, they provide direct care to people with mental disorders and their families.

The Queen of Spain chaired the BBVA Microfinance Foundation's event to give visibility to the efforts of women during the pandemic, at the Headquarters of the BBVA Microfinance Foundation in Madrid.
BBVA Microfinance Foundation held the event 'Tireless women: Challenges and achievements to reinvent themselves in times of crisis', to recognise the work of Latin American entrepreneurs in the face of the economic impact of the health crisis and the important role of technology.
Her Majesty was informed of the activities and projects of the Foundation to fight against poverty, offering people who do not have access to the conventional financial system to obtain resources to undertake productive activities and improve their quality of life.
The BBVA Microfinance Foundation is a non-profit entity created in 2007, it has become one of the philanthropic initiatives with the greatest social impact in Latin America. The objective of the Foundation is to promote the sustainable development of people in vulnerability who have productive activities, through financial services and training.

The Queen of Spain, as the permanent Honorary President of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) and its Scientific Foundation, presided over the main act of the AECC on the occasion of World Cancer Research Day at the AECC Headquarters in Madrid.
World Cancer Research Day brings together international organisations who fight against cancer, in an event to talk about the importance of continuing to investigate and of doing it all as a single team. A round table was held under the title 'Make a team for cancer research', it was highlighted that international collaborative research is key in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. The second part of the round table focused on the impact of COVID-19 on cancer research.
The AECC was founded in 1953, it is a non-profit organisation that works to educate, and support individuals and families through illness. Including the financing of research projects that will enable a better diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

The King and Queen of Spain attended the premiere of 'Un Ballo in Maschera', an 1859 opera by Giuseppe Verdi, for the opening of the 24th season of the Teatro Real, Madrid.
Un Ballo in Maschera (A Masked Ball) was directed by Gianmaria Aliverta and performed in Italian. The plot is loosely based on the assassination of King Gustav III of Sweden, who was shot as the result of a political conspiracy while attending a masked ball in 1792, he died from his wounds thirteen days later.
After the performance, Their Majesties had the opportunity to meet with members of the cast and crew.

The King and Queen of Spain attended the opening of the Delibes exhibition at The Biblioteca Nacional de España, in Madrid.
Miguel Delibes Setién began his career as a cartoonist and columnist, he later became the editor of the regional newspaper El Norte de Castilla, before gradually devoting himself to writing novels. Delibes is considered one of the most original voices in Spanish literature in the second half of the 20th century. Throughout his career, Delibes received the most prestigious awards in Spanish literature, including Miguel de Cervantes Award and Prince of Asturias Award for Literature among others.
The exhibition is a biographical journey that commemorates the centenary of Delibes birth. It brings together more than two hundred works including printed books, manuscripts, drawings, canvases, photographs, etc. Their Majesties received a guided tour from the curator of the exhibition. Concluding the engagement the Royal Couple held a meeting with the children of Miguel Delibes.

The King and Queen of Spain presided over the delivery of the Heraldo Awards, in an act that also serves to commemorate the 125-year history of regional daily newspaper Heraldo de Aragón, at Villanueva de Gállego, Zaragoza.
As it is a monumental anniversary, the newspaper has created the Extraordinary Prize 'Heraldo 125 Aniversario', which was awarded to Their Majesties. This concession has sought to distinguish the remarkable work carried out by the Crown over the last 45 years in the consolidation of democracy and its values.
Prizes awarded annually by the newspaper, now reaching its seventeenth edition, were also presented during the ceremony.
After the initial greetings, the commemorative plaque was presented and Their Majesties made a brief visit to the museum, before presiding over the award ceremony, and attending a subsequent lunch.

The Queen of Spain travelled to the Navarran towns of Milagro and San Adrián to inaugurate the 2020/2021 school year.
The day began at the CPEIP 'Nuestra Señora del Patrocinio', an Infant and Primary school in Milagro. Her Majesty toured the facilities and observed the hygiene measures which have been adopted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The centre has been able to expand its patio space thanks to the City Council who has given them a nearby municipal sports area so that students can maintain their distance during leisure time.
The Queen later moved to the town of San Adrián, where she toured the facilities of the IES 'Ega', a secondary school, for students not only from the municipality but also from Andosilla, Cárcar and Azagra.
The visit concluded with a meeting chaired by Queen Letizia, with the educational community. Points of discussion included the challenges overcome to start the school year with some normality.

The Queen of Spain held a working meeting with the new National Executive Council of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) at the charity's headquarters in Madrid.
The AECC was founded in 1953, it is a non-profit organisation that works to educate, and support individuals and families through illness. Including the financing of research projects that will enable a better diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
Her Majesty is the permanent Honorary President of the AECC and the AECC Scientific Foundation. During the meeting, the impact of the pandemic on the AECC's activity was discussed. The Queen was also informed of the 'AECC Innova', the latest initiative that supports researchers throughout the course of their projects. The new grants are to help researchers take results from the laboratory to the market.

The King and Queen of Spain presided over the commemorative act of Día del Cooperante (Cooperator's Day) at Palacio de Viana in Madrid.
On the 8th September, the Spanish Cooperation commemorates Cooperative's Day in honour of professionals who work for sustainable human development and fight against poverty in vulnerable parts of the world.
The date coincides with the Declaration of the Millennium of United Nations where 189 heads of state pledged to meet the Millennium Development Goals in September 2000. Thus committing world leaders to combat poverty, hunger, disease, illiteracy, environmental degradation, and discrimination against women in the first 15 years.
Their Majesties attended a meeting where they had the opportunity to listen to the testimonies of aid workers who informed them of the challenges that COVID-19 has imposed on their respective countries.

The King and Queen of Spain attended the funeral mass of good friend Jaime Carvajal Hoyos at La Paz funeral home in Madrid. The financier, husband of Xandra Falcó and father of three daughters died unexpectedly on September 2nd at the age of 56.
Queen Letizia looked sombre is an all black ensemble, pairing her Sandro v-neck silk shirt with slim trousers. On her feet Letizia wore her Carolina Herrera slingbacks, and carried her Carolina 'Astrud' clutch - also by the Venezuelan fashion designer.
