The King of Spain celebrated his birthday today but there was no day off for the 49 year old monarch! He was joined by Queen Letizia at the Royal Palace of Madrid for the final act of commemorations marking the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes who wrote the classic novel ‘Don Quixote'.
The year-long commemorations for the Spanish author began in 2016 and today Their Majesties attended the the closing ceremony celebrating the work of the Spanish author.
Queen Letizia recycled a Felipe Varela separates outfit for the occasion. It consists of a red jacket with scallop edges and a matching high-waisted pencil skirt.
The skirt suit dates back to 2009 and Letizia has worn it on several occasions since its debut:
Taking inspiration from the last time she wore the ensemble, Queen Letizia accessorized with her Carolina Herrera 'Maysa' clutch bag.
On her feet she wore red snakeskin D'Orsay heels, a bespoke version of Magrit's 'Alicia' style which she recently premiered at the Gold Medals of Merit in Fine Arts ceremony in December 2016.
She finished the look with her gold filigree hoop earrings.
