Date night at the movies for the King and Queen of Spain

The King and Queen of Spain enjoyed a date night at the cinemas in Madrid on Saturday evening.

The outing was in support to the film distribution and exhibition sector, which have been hit hard during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Queen Letizia wore a low key summer outfit, pairing a variegated striped t-shirt with white relaxed jeans.

She carried a white Carolina Herrera Initials Insignia small shoulder bag. You may recall Letizia also owns this style in a fuchsia pink colourway.

After a series of floaty summer outfits on their national tour, it is a relief to see Letizia in something neat and snappy. Her casuals here look better than some of her floppy dresses. I love the varied smart stripes, the broader stripe at the shoulder is a simple variation which really lifts the top, and simple white jeans are perfect. I'm glad a trip to the movies could be included in their busy work schedule.

Hi Bertie, I am in complete agreement that this simple ensemble is stronger than most of the tour looks. The colour combination is sharp and the garments appear to fit perfectly - in this case, 'less is more'. These are minor details, but I would have liked to have seen the T-shirt tucked in and a white/or navy belt. Understandably, comfort rather than fashion was the top priority for a visit to the cinema.

Crumbs, belt ,& tucked in would have cancelled casual look for me! The lovely bag is enough formality imo. But I respect your informed observations as always 😅👍

I also have a small concern that those pants could be quite wide in the leg and cropped -- with the questionable wedge espadrilles on show!

I love this casual look, perfect for a trip to the movies. White pants and informal top, fabulous. I really like the CH small shoulder bag, perfect size.
