Final Post

Dear Readers,

It is with a heavy heart that I announce I will be quitting the Queen Letizia Style blog effective from today. As many of you know I run a few royal fashion blogs but over the last few months I have become overwhelmed with the amount of work that is required to maintain them all. I tried to make it work, but I found I was also falling behind on my other blogs. It was not an easy decision to let one go.

This has nothing to do with which royal lady I favour, but for the record I think Letizia is in a league of her own when it comes to fashion, and her style is the one I resonate with the most. However, blogging about the Spanish queen is much MORE difficult and time consuming for me because getting access to information and identifying her clothing is more arduous. There is not a large community of royal fashion watchers to assist me with clothing IDs. I mostly have to do it on my own. Also I don't speak Spanish so interpreting events took time.

I will keep the Queen Letizia Style blog live as a resource for those interested in looking back at Letizia's style since becoming Queen consort.

Thank you to all my readers for following along this journey with me, and I hope you will support and follow my other blogs; Kate's Closet, Meghan's Fashion, and Princess Charlotte Style.

While I understand, I'm really sorry to see you end this blog too. Letizia is by far the royal whose style I like and relate to the most.

I will be honest, even if you don't have time to blog about the events and identify the clothes, I personally would love it if you could (would) add a picture or two of each outfit, as I find myself coming here often for work attire inspiration (I know, completely selfish of me and I do respect your decision!). What's so nice about this blog compared to some of the others is that it is only Letizia, so all of her style choices are available to see.

Well, best of luck on your other blogs. I will definitely miss this one though.

Very sad to read that you are ending this blog! Understand the challenges of not reading Spainish and sourcing her outfits. Agree with others who commented on the plethora of blogs devoted to the British royal family. You were the only one to cover Letizia whose style is the best.

Hi Elizabeth,

As you are well aware, I have already made my feelings known about your decision to end the blog so there is no need to say anything more. But I would like to say I will sincerely miss this site and I am deeply saddened by your decision to end it forever. I would like to support your other blogs but frankly I am so tired of seeing Kate and now Meghan on every cover of every magazine. The world's media is on overkill with these two. And as for Charlotte, I just don't have any interest in what a toddler wears. For those of you still interested in Letizia's outfits you can always track them on the Daily Mail and Royal Dish.

I completely agree with the Kate and Meghan everywhere thing. And the "stories" that these magazines make up every week (here in the US, Kate has been pregnant with twins now at least five times) are ridiculous. Plus, ultimately, all Kate ever wears when she goes out is either "sporty" (not exactly work appropriate) or dresses (how many dress coats can one person own) - neither of which work in my world. That's one of the reasons I like Letizia so much - she wears pants!

Elizabeth, Like the others, I am sorry to see this blog end. But you don't owe anything to anyone and so your decision must be respected.

I do, however, agree with those who say, that there is endless info about the British Royals online and many blogs about them. This one about Letizia is unique. As Holly states, even just the photos of Letizia would be great. I don't always have the time to read the prose, but as they say, "A picture is worth a thousand words." I also agree with Sandy in saying there isn't much interest in what Charlotte is wearing. She doesn't make many appearances and usually wears the same thing, in different colours. She is a toddler not a trend setter in fashion.

All that said, I want to thank you sincerely for the dedication and fine work, that you put into blogging about Letizia. I wish you well going forward.

I'm so sorry to see this blog end. As many others have previously stated, you have done an amazing job covering Letizia's style and should be very proud of this work. I absolutely love Letizita's style because she's my age and dresses as a grown woman who happens to be Queen, stylish yet regal. I'm more apt to immitate her style, with the exception of those sky high heels, than that of Meghan or Kate. I love them both, but Letizia resonates with me.

Elizabeth, I respect your decision to do what is right for you and wish you well. Your work has been superb. But now there will be a great void. Letezia is far and away the most regal and stylish royal. Without your blog we will be left with syncophants who will just praise Catherine or Meghan despite their style or lack of it. I have followed your blog for many years and this is only my second comment. I hope you are not quiting the blog because of financial restraints. Hi Elisabeth, just briefly congratulate you for your work. As others I am Spanish, and this is the only place where I can check the clothes without loads of gossip or criticism. I think you are immensely professional and I as I have said in the past (I have made a couple of comments in your posts) you are VERY RESPECTFUL.

I salute your choice; there is not many people that give up or stop doing something when they feel they can not do it with the quality they would like to. It speaks highly of you.

Best of luck in this decision and the possibilities it will open to you; "close a door, open a window!"

I want to echo Annao's comments. I get the feeling you are a perfectionist (I mean that as a compliment) and I'm sure you struggled immensely with this decision. It must be so difficult to give up something you worked tirelessly on, but if you can't do it to the standard YOU want then I agree, it's not worth continuing. I will miss this blog terribly as there was non like it, but I'm happy we can still follow your outstanding work via the other blogs.

Elisabeth, as a Belgian living in Spain since 1987, I'm so sorry to read your news, yours was by far the best blog about Queen Letizia's style and clothes. Now I can only read the Daily Mail, because Spanish blogs are never up-to-date (surprising, isn't it?) and moreover, a lot of the comments are really offending (out of sheer envy, I suppose). As some people said, can't you just publish some photos from time to time? That would be enough for most of us.

There are Facebook pages dedicated to Letizia which do as you ask, publish just photos of her outings. And the Daily Mail rises to the odd ID, it turns out that Pedro del Hierro -- of recent jumpsuit fame -- was responsible for the latest neutral plaid wraparound dress Letizia was wearing this week.

This breaks my heart. I look forward to reading this blog every day. I think Letizia's style is in a league all her own and she unfortunately doesn't get the same amount of coverage as the British royals. While I don't always agree with her fashion choices, I have to commend her for always being willing to experiment with different looks and styles. But as others have already said if you don't feel that you have the time to keep publishing the blog at the same excellent and professional standards you have always adhered to, then it's ( sadly) time to let it go. We will all miss you and this wonderful blog.

I hate to seem mean spirited and be critical, but I will not be following the other three blogs. For the most part, they do not give as much information, as some of the others online do. The blog about Letizia was unique in that nobody else is presenting Letizia's style online. I think if Elizabeth wants to consolidate her work, she should drop one or two of her other blogs and feature the one where there is a need and an absence.

Laura, I feel exactly the way you do and I don't think you are being mean. I just can't relate to the fashions of Kate and Meghan. Kate's clothes are matronly and too old for her. And her posture is very poor to carry them off well. And as for Meghan, her clothes are soooo expensive. I don't spend in one year what she spends on one dress. They both wear a lot of hats too which is not acceptable in the real world. I could relate to Letizia as an everyday normal well dressed woman.

I LOVE this blog. You have done such an outstanding job!

I noticed a few other readers suggested just putting the photos up. That would be great!

Perhaps I speak for many, but as a reader, I would be fine not having the clothing details. Maybe you would reconsider? A simpler blog perhaps?

It was so much fun to take a break from my average life, and get a glimpse into a non-British royal.

I am so sorry to read your last post! Your blog was the best about Letizia and you will be missed!
But as a royal blogger myself, I do know how hard it can be to follow everything! But I would have loved to be able to help you when you needed it!
Hope you will reconsider your decision (I like to dream about that lol) but if you don't, your work here was simply amazing and your work about Meghan and Kate is great too! I don't follow your blog about Charlotte because she is only a kid and I am not interested about her clothes yet.
The most important thing is that you keep going what you love the most!

This is a huge loss! There is endless info on the UK royal ladies and their pictures are published everywhere.... While I respect Catherine and believe that she is a beautiful and professional royal, my opinion is that considering her a fashion icon is entirely undeserved.... her fashion is OK for a royal lady but she lacks sense of fashion.... and Meghan has a secondary role, plus to me she is more a (very pleasant) follower of a model of women which others have forged.... Queen Letitia is entirely different, she does deserve a style blog!

Hello Elizabeth, like everyone else I will miss this blog terribly, and I'm incredibly sad. While I totally respect your decision and won't insist again, I'm going to be forward enough to volunteer my services in case you change your mind. This blog, in my opinion, is a blog of reference in the English speaking corner of the royal world, there's nothing like this and even the Spanish blogs fail to reach its level, like many people have stated before me.

I'm Spanish and I used to take part in a couple of international (English) royal forums to try to help people understand the Spanish RF and its activities, but certain things discouraged me and I stopped a while ago. So now I would love to help you with some of the difficult parts of this blog upkeep. I could check the agenda beforehand and email you a summary of the event, Letiza's history with the organisation, her role in it...and help you with any question or translation you may need. And also I could send you what I find in the Spanish press regarding clothes ID, although they're wrong many times.

I know it's a lot to ask from you, and I understand completely that your time is yours and you should devote yourself to whatever makes you happy, but it would be a privilege to help keep this blog alive, and I would love it.

Anyway, thanks for everything you've done here, I love the archives, and sometimes I check them even without taking the clothes into account, just to see when was the last time she took part in X event or when last time she wore a tiara, o when there's a gala dinner in the future to check what she wore the last few times, what she's likely to repeat...

I found your blog 2-3 years ago and used to come nearly every day,even though i posted very rarely. Queen Letizia is a pure sartorial inspiration for working woman and i will miss this blog and following her a lot.
Elizabeth-thank so much for the work and heart you put into this blog! I second those commenters who expressed a secret desire you will reconsider and continue to post at least a photo or two from events (a brief weekly overview?). I must admit i find IDing totally secondary and just complimentary information to the main inspirational function of folowing the Queen.

Thank you for all your hard work keeping up this blog, it was most informative! Queen Letizia, Queen Rania and Sheikh Moza are (in my opinion) the best-dressed women in the world, and it was fantastic to utilize your website as a resource of brands/styling/inspiration.

It’s easy to see how your time and energy could get gobbled up by running a whole clutch of royal blogs and likely you’re probably overdue for a change having served Letizia so well. I’m still gutted we have to lose this blog, though! I’ve really appreciated the quality of the posts and think it has been quite the pioneer in royal fashion commentary. It’s been heaven to have something other than Kate & Meghan coverage to look at.

I can’t help thinking the appearance of Meghan on the scene has proved challenging all round. I’d always thought if Harry had a partner it would be A Good Thing and instead I find myself struggling to keep up with both duchesses and the increasing number of children, and what used to be a pleasure for me is turning into a chore. So even as a lowly poster I find myself also challenged as to how much I can realistically manage.

Meghan herself doesn’t help me much by sticking to such a dull colour palette and I’m afraid I’ve ceased looking forward to seeing her, so can clearly row back on that front. I hardly know how I got through to the end of the tour. It doesn’t work for me if the only time she wears a vibrant red is when she’s in Tonga. It’s early days for her and it’s clearly unfair to compare her to others more experienced, but nonetheless I will sorely miss getting the lowdown on the wonderful, chic, and probably irreplaceable Letizia.

I’m not much of a fashion expert but agree this blog will be missed. Spanish is my native language and I’ll add an offer to translate (I can do that pretty quickly) or look up info for you when needed.

Just a couple of items to consider...from what I can tell, the online world is pretty much devoid of positive information about the Spanish royal family for some reason, and your blog was a very welcome break from all that nonsense...regarding what a young royal wears, as a mother I can tell you our primary focus is clothes that are affordable, washable, and don’t have to be ironed.
