Queen Letizia was spotted alongside her husband, King Felipe, arriving at the exclusive Pabú restaurant in Madrid to celebrate the 60th birthday of her sister-in-law, Infanta Elena.

I don't like the trend of these bulky, chunky shoes. They are so masculine looking and unrefined. They take what might have been an attractive outfit and make it look more rough and casual. Now that I think of it, I don't think they would look good with any outfit. Not even jeans. They make your feet look really big too. What woman wants big feet? The tweed pants might look good. But here they just fade into the background. I hope to see them styled with an elegant white blouse which would be more appealing.

I totally agree with what you say about this type of shoe, Sandy. They are far from elegant, very masculine and look like something one would wear for outside work in the mud.

The pants are fabulous, but I don't like the black underneath. Another brighter color would have lifted the overall look.
The shoes I dislike immensely. They are too large and masculine looking. I find these particular shoes very unattractive.

At first glance this seemed an odd and daring outfit for Letizia, but in the context of an informal family lunch it makes more sense. The wide Maje tweed trousers have a heavy quality which has been more than underlined by the Hugo Boss Chunky-Sole loafers, it certainly makes for a marked look and cleverly carried off by astute Letizia.

The black leather moto jacket simply transforms it all into something more manageable and versatile, the detailing on the leather adding a welcome feminine touch. I might feel the Tous cascade earrings are a mite too fussy, but if Letizia likes them, then that's fine by me. They are a great colour match with the tweed.
