King & Queen of Spain hold video conference with Spanish supermarket chain amid COVID-19 crisis

The King and Queen of Spain held a video conference on Thursday with Juan Roig Alfonso, president of Mercadona, the Spanish supermarket chain, at Palacio de la Zarzuela.

Juan Roig Alfonso was accompanied by his management team, he expressed pride for the 90,000 Mercadona workers. Roig highlighted the value of the agrifood chain, in which 2.5 million people work daily; farmers, ranchers, transporters and industry, to supply businesses with necessary products. He stressed that it is important that the economy does not stop, but always guarantees the safety and health of workers.

According to HOLA, Their Majesties have been in constant contact with social and political agents who are dealing with the COVID-19 crisis.

Queen Letizia wore a navy pant suit with a striped top and a pair of loafers. I will update the post if they are identified.

ID UPDATE (11 MAR 2021): I believe the navy and white striped knit is the HUGO Hugo Boss 'Sagiara' sweater with silk and cashmere.

In Feb, 2015 Letizia wore a Dark Navy Hugo Boss wool suit and the blazer style was a Hugo Boss ‘Jetala Blazer with matching trouser that looks just like the suit she is wearing today and I thinking she wore the same suit in 2014 or of course it is new. What a classic beautiful Navy Suit.💙

Thanks Ava for your kind thoughts! I was so happy to see the King and Queen after a couple of weeks that felt like an eternity.

Dear fellow posters, I hope you are all safe and well, and practising some self-care when time allows. This weekend I re-read one of my favourite books which was a welcome respite to the unsettling situation. I've thought of this special community often over the last few weeks and I'm very much looking forward to sharing brighter times when we emerge stronger together.

Really admire the way the Spanish couple got straight into video link-ups. I'm surprised how much style we can see, but compliments to Letizia for switching tops around. At first I thought she was wearing a sombre black jacket but maybe it's dark navy or maybe video indoor lighting is a bit variable. She manages to look suitably serious at such a testing time in her country's history. Her plain straight loose hair underlines that. Thanks for the post.
