Bravo Letizia for proving you don't have to spend a million dollars to look a million dollars! Didn't she also wear a high-street dress to the welcome ceremony for the Chinese president? She is the right kind of modern royal. Letizia respects her role as queen consort whilst having fun with fashion, this is why I adore following her. And it's good to have you back Elizabeth, this blog is simply the best! *hug*

Soooo glad to have you back! Can't help getting paranoid when there seems to be a break and I fear for the future of the blog 0_0. I didn't see the message about your return on March 5 until I happened to click through from the Twitter account.

And it's great to see a real pro like Letizia packing on the style, my neurotic soul (see paranoia, above) finds itself on something of a knife edge watching the newer members of BRF still settling in. Letizia has gone through all her teething troubles and can just slay them effortlessly!

Love this outfit. The Herrera coat works so well as a jacket, the neutral tones have warmth in them which prevents it looking lifeless. The Massimo Dutti dress is an inspired choice, it looks to hangs well on the model, especially at that price point. The intricate monochrome pattern is a clever contrast to the coat, the soft fabric keeping it fluid and light where it hangs below the coat hem. The dress only begins to lose definition where Letizia has removed her coat and it looks loose on her, the tie belt doesn't seem to be enough to hold it all together, both fabric and colourwise.

I love the choice of contrast soft plum colours in accessories, can't recall seeing Letizia wearing a full coordinating set like this any time recently. The Lodi pumps and Magrit clutch go well together, and ruby earrings are the perfect finishing touch.

Not a fan of this QL outfit.

Nonetheless, I'm grateful to you Elizabeth for your efforts on this blog. Know it must be a lot of work to keep all 4 blogs going.

Thank you! :)

I love this outfit. Simple yet classy and chic. I love the dress and I love the pop of color with the purse and shoes. So glad you’re back Elizabeth! Thank you for all your wonderful posts! We appreciate you!

Yay, so wonderful to have you back. I hope you had a lovely break! Many thanks for all the amazing work you and Alessandra do!

There is something just slightly off with this ensemble, perhaps too many competing factors below the knee... I think this may have flowed better had the dress been taken up to match the length of the coat, which I would have belted for the formality of the occasion (in general I have no problem with a dress being longer than a coat, but in this instance, my eye is drawn to the contrast in fabrics). The burgundy Leonor Magrit court shoes may have elongated the leg creating a more streamlined look overall. However, the more I look at this outfit the more I like it. There is a particularly lovely shot of the Queen climbing the stairs to return to the palace and the chiffon is moving elegantly around her, show-casing the fullness of the fabric and print to full effect - the dress looks rather chic. First Lady Maribel Diaz Cabello looks very polished in lace, I love the pop of colour via her scarf!

The coats weren't needed, a formality, it was 20C in Madrid that day, a bit less in the morning ,we are having spring since February, crazy!!

Hi Wendy, it's been worryingly warm here in London also, it reached 21.2C in February. I would have been happy to see the Queen forgo the coat, weather/formality permitting. Wrap coats seem to have a little extra fabric to cocoon the body. I feel that this Carolina Herrera would have had more polish belted and if the dress had been shortened slightly. I understand now why it wasn't belted being so warm. Thanks for your insight!

The Queen looks beautiful in this ensemble. Love the coat and dress. The shoes and bag are beautiful. Earrings are gorgeous.

The snake print dress is too overpowering. Too reptilian in my opinion.
The wool coat is nice but doesn't do much to improve the dress.

This ensemble works well tonally, although I agree with those who have a problem with the hemline of the dress - to me it gives the impression of drooping. What mostly drew my eye in this post was the beautifully groomed horse, and its burnished mane and tail and the rider's bun coordinating so perfectly!

QL is still my style icon but there isn't anything I like about this ensemble. The coat is probably gorgeous - Carolina Herrera - but the dress makes it seem drab. Hope to see this coat again in a different ensemble. (I see it's a repeat so I'll look to see if I can find its first wear)

addendum: LOL I found the coat's earlier wear AND my comment. Indeed, I did love it the first time around!
