Leonor's big day

Today was a very special day for the Spanish Royal Family!

Not only was it Princess Leonor's 13th birthday, it was also the day of her first public speech!

The princess, heir to the Spanish throne, joined her father on stage for the reading of the Spanish Constitution for the 40th anniversary of its approval by the Congress at the Cervantes Institute in Madrid.

For her daughter's big day, Queen Letizia re-wore the grey-blue Felipe Varela belted wool jacket with embroidered box-pleat skirt.

This is the forth occasion Letizia has worn the set which she debuted at the 2017 National Day ceremony.

Today

She supplemented the ensemble with her custom Magrit 'Hawa' clutch and Nina Ricci pointed toe pumps.

Letizia topped off the look with Bvlgari aquamarine earrings - a gift from the Italian jewelery house, following the birth of Leonor.

Leonor did a great job, confident and clear, probably her mother, a journalist has taught her. Felipe has improved his speeches also.

This is the fourth time Letizia is wearing this lovely Varela suit. She is really getting her money's worth on this one. The month of October has been very busy for her. She had 18 engagements in total! I don't think I have seen her that busy ever.

I was waiting for this post, because I was fascinated by the Leonor's little speech (reading).
She was so confident and lovely and it is obvious that Letizia taught her everything.
I am often wondering if Letizia sometimes misses her old life and her old job. What do you ladies think?

Yes, I think it must be very difficult for a well educated, intelligent, confident woman who had such a high powered career to put that on hold and join an archaic, outdated institution. She can't express her views on world matters and instead has become a fashionista whose appearance and clothes is most important. But if may be worth it if her love for Felipe and her daughters is more important than her own desires and ambitions.

I completely agree with you Sandy.
In fact, remember when people were constantly complaining about how skinny she is? I actually think that she was extremely stressed. Recently she is looking much better, its' probably a little easier now that she is a queen and I am really glad for her.
On the other hand, I've always thought that Felipe actually likes that she is strong and opinionated and I think that she does a lot behind the scenes. At least I hope she does, because she obviously has a huge potential.

Maya, she had an awful second pregnancy whilst her baby sister killed herself and therefore a second C- section.
She always has been thin, she wanted to put weight on...too much stress.

Yes, Maya I think it took a long time for Letizia to adjust to the ways of the monarchy. It couldn't have been easy. The suicide of her sister must have been devastating. It's only up until the last couple of years that she has put on weight and looks much better and healthier. I find she has really grown and matured in her role as a royal and is doing very well despite the lack of privacy, restrictions, criticism etc. And I agree Felipe is proud of her. He wants someone with brains and a backbone. I really admire the two of them (unlike other royals who I won't mention).

Oh, yes, I remember that. It was horrible and so sad. I was actually amazed that she was able to handle the funeral and even address the public there.
