A utilitarian chic look which is relaxed and summery, hopefully it helped keep her cool and protected from the sun. The set seems to have held it's shape well and not creased too badly which linen can so often do. The tie waist adds some definition to the silhouette and the patch pockets inject some interest upon the all white canvas. The straight leg trousers are lovely, so crisp and airy, there is a dash of drama in the slightly oversized pieces which looks very stylish. Wedges are a good choice for walking on grass while providing extra height, the soft neutral colour blends well against her skin tone. Jewellery has been kept to a minimum which was wise for this event, the Chanel comete earrings are discreet but add a little extra polish. Lovely to see the Queen supporting young women in sport.

I know this outfit is appropriate for a sporting event held in very warm weather. But, it reminds me of a karate uniform with the monochromatic white and tie belt as well as loose fit. It's just dull and boring looking. I'm shocked at how expensive it is- almost 1000 euros for the two pieces!!

Sandy, but karate kimono do not have either collar, or buttons or pockets . Im respect your opinion but it is the classical Mediterranean linen suit, worn in Spain, France, Greece, Italy,.. etc.

Wendy, I know it's not exactly like a karate outfit. That's why I said it "reminds" me of one. I'm sure it would look better in a bolder or brighter colour.

Il have seen them in white, cream , or olive green, It is something worn in the Mediterranean part as a suit in summer and then by the British Army in Africa. Their suits were too much thick and they became this suit into a military outfit. So camuflage colours, earth-ground tone?

Oh, Sandy, you made me laugh, now I can't unsee the karate image! I think it's the combination of the tie belt and crop pants which give the effect, though Letizia has got her pants full length unlike the model. Even so, it's a relevant sporting reference for this event :)

In Spain we call it a "Sahara" jacket, it could be white, khaki or cream, the typical summer outfit.

I've also seen this style described as a safari jacket, but I'm sure the term Sahara conveys pretty much the same vibe!

Yes Berti, a Sahara jacket for a Safari....LOL...., almost the same.

What a lovely informal summer set for Letizia, with a classic safari-style jacket. The soft linen means she can tie her belt snug into her waist and still look as trim as ever while enjoying the comfort of loose fabric elsewhere. While I still don't like wedge espadrilles they are quite the right choice to make for summer ensemble.

This suit looks really nice, really impressed the linen didn't crease, it seem to hold its own. The wedges in this instance looked great with her outfit.
I did love how the Spanish team seemed so relaxed with the Queen, watching the video of her interacting and accepting the jerseys so refreshingly lovely!

Espadriles???, we call them alpargatas and they are the most typical thing of Spain. I struggle to find something "Spanish" as the country is so heterogeneous, but definitely every one has a pair of alpargatas. Even men. Back in the day they were the footwear in summer as they are handmade with natural elements and are healthy.

Firts registers are from 1322, they are typical in the South of France too, because they are Basques.
