Don Felipe and Doña Letizia began the day at the Reconquista Hotel in Oviedo, where they received the winners of the "Medals of Asturias 2014". The prizes at the annual award is given out to individuals, groups or institutions from around the world who have made notable achievements in science, cultural and social affairs. Queen Letizia looked stunning in a recycled Felipe Varela white and black butterfly embroidered dress. She wore this dress to the abdication service of King Juan Carlos in June, and in April to the Cervantes Award. Letizia again paired the dress with her sand patent pumps from Spanish shoe maker Magrit. For today's award ceremony she wore a beautiful pair of pave halo diamond teardrop dangle earrings. That evening, their Majesties presided over the Prince of Asturias awards ceremony which was held at the Campoamor Theater in Oviedo.They were joined by King Felipe's mother, Queen Sofia. Once inside the theater, Felipe and Letizia took their places at the head table, while Sofia went to the Royal Box. Queen Letizia premiered a new Felipe Valera creation at tonight's awards gala. The bespoke dress is rendered in sapphire blue lace mesh with black embroidery. She accessorized the pencil dress with a navy satin clutch bag and Magrit navy suede platform pumps. Letizia wore her hair up and completed the outfit with exquisite aquamarine teardrop earrings which where a gift from Italian jewelery house Bvlgari following the birth of Letizia's first daughter, Leonor.
