Queen Letizia attends Foundation Against Drug Addiction meeting

The Queen of Spain attended a meeting with the Foundation Against Drug Addiction (FAD) today. You may recall that Her Majesty became honorary president of FAD in September 2015, taking on the role from Queen Sofia who served as patron for nearly 30 years.

Queen Letizia debuted the color-block coat in November 2016 during the State Visit to Portugal, and it's a piece she's worn on many occasions since then.

Today she ditched the skirt and instead teamed it with her charcoal grey Hugo Boss 'Tiluna' Stretch Virgin Wool Dress Pants, and the orange Hugo Boss 'Foebe' knit wool top.

On Letizia's feet were her charcoal grey suede platform pumps - a bespoke design by Magrit.

She carried a new orange clutch bag also by the Spanish accessories brand.

Letizia harmonized the ensemble with her citrine and diamond white gold earrings.

This is a great outfit: the funky orange offsets the steelness of the grey, the coat and the trousers are beautifully taylored. I've never been a fan of platform pumps and I don't love these either. I feel that the citrines add a royal/sophisticated touch to the otherwise business -like ensemble. This virgin wool must be supreme quality if Letizia can bear it so close to her skin, especially the neck!

I've been very fond of this colour-block Boss coat up till now, it's a great shape and I like the tones used in the pattern, but I find it looking a bit out of sync this time. Maybe I'm having an 'off' week as I can't see any logic to my view, the colours are all in the right place, the mismatched accessories are fine, but. no, it somehow doesn't sit right with the coat buttoned up over trousers. The orange top looks unaccountably out of place. Maybe some pattern somewhere might have relieved the uniform feel I'm getting. But it remains a perfectly presentable look for a business meeting and Letizia herself looks as well as ever.
