I've never liked this dress. To me, leather is so harsh and severe looking, most especially in black. I can tolerate it in a coat or jacket, but not a dress, skirt or pants, where it just looks very stiff. It is also controversial to wear leather to a function that focuses on the environment. The shoes are vamping looking and the earrings are fake gems. Sorry for me this outfit is a miss.

It is ecological leather, not from animals. Eco leather for an ECO award Ceremony, obviously she is not so silly..

It's faux leather, not real leather

The product description states it's made from 100% Lamb Nappa:

Leather is a renewable resource, and a better alternative to faux leathers made from plastics.

Lamb nappa seems consistent with how malleable it looks and how naturally it hangs. But then an odd choice for Eco awards 🤔

Why? As Elizabeth stated, leather is a renewable resource, and better than faux leathers made from plastics. Her shoes are made from leather and we don't question that. People fixate on the strangest things.

I share your aversion to much of the leather used in fashion, but this dress has always struck me as working despite that. I think the leather used must be soft enough to hang better, I agree it often looks too severe and stiff.

I love the vamp effect of the shoes, but like you am uncertain how either the fabric or the overall look quite fits in with this event. I've made a feeble attempt to put it down to being artistically inventive in the design context of an architects' office. Shoot me down in flames, I don't mind!

I am not a fan of leather, but the Queen looks great in this leather dress. The strappy shoes look gorgeous, I would love these in my wardrobe!

For your information:

Eco-leather is made with natural fibers such as flax or cotton mixed with palm, corn, soybean and other plant oils that are laminated together in layers to create something that looks and feels as if it came from an animal.
Actually the brand is from Sewden when Greta comes from.

I am sorry, but this dress reminds me of a big, black trash bag with a belt! A rare miss for the lovely queen.

The & Other Stories Belted Leather Mid Dress still manages to bring both glamour and elan to the occasion, and I suppose leather is ok from an eco point of view. The stars of the show for me are undoubtedly the Carolina Herrera black leather cross-strap sandals which are superb with the racy dress. All quite fitting for a design-focused architect event, I suppose.

The Coolook Venus zircona hoop earrings add a final quiet touch of vamp to a stand-out look which would be highly photogenic and help highlight the status of the Eco award.

I am delighted to see high heel sandals on her feet again! She's got some gorgeos pairs of sandals but she doesn't wear them lately. And wedge sandals just don't look good with everything, they look too casual in my opinion.
I'm glad to see she also dyed her hair. She looks younger now. And some lether again for a change...great!
