I think that the orange is a bit strong, but the skirt is lovely Thank you so much for this blog - I really like to compare the previous years! In my opinion, 2017 is the nicest outfit. I think it's based on a traditional Spanish design.

Yes that's right! The 2017 dress was by Spanish designer Juan Duyos and made from a manton de manila: http://www.queenletiziastyle.com/blog/queen-letizia-is-cream-of-the-crop-in-floral-brocade-dress-at-the-balearic-islands-reception

This is such a bright and pretty look for summer. I like the casual pony tail and the earrings coordinate well. I am surprised to see that Letizia's toes were lacking polish. A bright, orange, nail polish to match the top would have added extra wow! Is the skirt really a midi as stated? I think a midi would be several inches longer.

I agree, a pop of orange nail polish would have been perfect! The skirt hits around mid-calf length, so it's a midi x

I love this outfit! The orange just pops out and looks great. I like the fit of the top, and the earrings are a perfect match. Orange seems to be a popular color lately. She wears it well.

Unfortunately I have to stand alone on this one because I don't like this outfit at all. I'm not sure orange is Letizia's colour and the top looks a little too tight. You can see the outline of her bra in some pictures and it looks messy. I also don't like the print of the skirt. It's just looks too wild & ugly with too many colours all over the place.

I have to agree with Sandy. Besides her objections to the look, I will add that the cut of the skirt elongates the torso in a way that is not flattering. I like Letizia's 2017 look best. That lovely printed sheath dress (I forget where it is from) and the way it fits Letizia cannot be topped. I might add that summer hair, especially when the weather is very hot, should always be back and off the neck. Letizia wears it beautifully.

I agree with Sandy’s and Marsha’s observations. I take it from these photos and the ones of the female guests that it was pretty hot at this event. If so, a blouse in the next larger size and in a lighter color IMHO would have been more comfortable and appropriate since it’s a formal event. It could be that Letizia has to stick with a certain size so you can’t see under her arms with a sweater/blouse that is too big..I’m thin and have that problem. If so, a slight short sleeve is terrific and flattering in hot weather.

Oh, thank you Marsha. At least someone agrees with me. I noticed everyone commenting on the Daily Mail site also praised this outfit. I thought I was being too critical. But after taking a second look at the outfit I hate it even more. I guess it's just not my cup of tea.

When lined up next to 2017, 2016, and 2015 I think these prior choices were so much more elegant. Indeed, 2017 was stunning and I loved her 2015 black look with the shorter hair. I think this year's ensemble is wearing her rather than the other way around.

My goodness, monochromatic Letizia seems to have gone for a year's supply of colour in one holiday outfit. I think it looks great, and she's lucky to be able to wear such a bold orange, it would wipe me out. The dropped waist skirt is the best way to wear so much gathered fabric while avoiding bulk at the waist. The sandals are just great. I wasn't sure about the pony tail at first, it looked severe, but in close-up it's terrific with evening make-up. A great look.

It's a pretty skirt, but it's sitting much too low on her waist. As a result, the whole outfit is a little off.
