King Felipe and Queen Letizia were accompanied by Felipe's parents, King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia, and eldest sister Infanta Elena, to deliver the 2016 edition of the National Sports Awards.

The awards are issued by the Spanish Sports Council and recognize exceptional athletic performance, and also recognize individuals or entities who have made a significant contribution to the promotion of sport.
For today's ceremony held at the Royal Palace of El Pardo near Madrid, â€‹Queen Letizia brought back the contemporary cape dress from last year's Innovation and Design Awards. The designer of the olive green number still remains a mystery.

Today she teamed it with a new set of snakeskin accessories adorned with metal studs.  The punk-inspired pieces are custom creations from Magrit. The bag is based on the designer's 'Lula' model (€300).

Letizia also premiered a pair of large teardrop earrings featuring yellow and green gemstones.  They are by Mexican born jeweler Daniel Espinosa.

The earrings are from the label's 'Marquesa' collection and were gifted to Letizia when she visited Mexico in June 2015 as claimed on the jeweler's Instragram page.

The professional elegance of today's outfit was consistent with Letizia's previous sartorial choices for this event, however it topped the contemporary scale compared to her past looks.

The Daily Mail have it wrong. We contacted Juanjo Oliva when Letizia first wore the dress and they denied the design was theirs. DM never check their facts.

I think the dress/cape ensemble is just beautiful. I'm not sure if the colour is olive or sage but I think it's amazing and looks great on Letizia. However I never have liked the look of snakeskin shoes.
I think that is one area where Letizia likes to experiment and go a bit wild..

Thanks for all your work! This gives you a peak at the outfit Letizia wore in 2010 (for the 2009 prizes):
