I can't help but admire the construction of this dress. It looks like there are very few large pieces of fabric sewn together with the seams & darts strategically placed to create a simple design with clean lines. I really like how the broad bell sleeves flow into a narrow skirt and create balance. The coral colour and contrasting shoes and clutch are also beautiful. All that is missing is a single strand of ivory pearls.

She always looks great in red, and I love this style. Very elegant. I don't like the white court shoes, maybe navy or grey would look better?

I love this Carolina Herrera Kimino Sleeve dress with its incredibly skilled and unusual cut. An object lesson in how to achieve an outstanding fashion look with apparently minimal effort, the secret lying in the cut and perfect seaming. It's such a pleasure to see how the sleeves end exactly at the waist seam, and how they need no embellishment, but remain coolly plain. The waistline sits perfectly on Letizia and the tailored straight skirt skims smoothly over her form. All the drama lies the sleeves which ought to be too big, but are so cleverly proportioned, and which form a glowing halo of colour round the wearer when seated.

Sadly I'm less impressed with white accessories. White courts in particular seem to be creeping back having been a fashion no-no for untold years, due to their perceived fault of making feet look bigger, a fate from which nude pumps were to preserve us. They may now be so unfashionable that to wear them now is somehow a trendy fashion quirk.

Duchess Kate has an exquisitely cut Jimmy Choo pair which I feel she can just get way with. Not so with a more recent Gianvito Rossi pair which are less flattering, a fate I feel they share with these present Magrit Dailia pumps on Letizia. The feet simply looks too big. The new Magrit Lea clutch is sweet and adds a handy touch of texture in the quilting lines. Love the citrine earrings. Overall the outfit is a win with me, I can get over the shoes!

Not sure about quirky, but noticed MT wearing them quite often (pumps, flats, boots), and looked ok to me [1,2,3,...7].

I have the impression that they work ok if the item immediately above (pant, dress, skirt, anything) has some white on it. Makes it fluid/continuous look (color wise)... Probably true for any shoes, but more so for white ones.

More to the point: I like the combination white-pump+white pant from KM [8] but not so much green/yellow-white [9].

Goodness, that's comprehensive! It's all a matter of personal taste, and I accept there are occasions when white courts look fine. Sometimes just a matter of how they look in some photos.

Wow, I've had more time to review your suggestions andcI agree, the former First Lady rocks white footwear! It suits the slightly glossy style she excels in and she has stature to carry off some strong elements. I notice again the importance of the cut of the shoe, some of these courts are cut low over the toed at the front, reducing the bulk of the white. There remains no doubt in my mind that white has this tendency in footwear. With M's often bright summery attire, it works well. Northern Europe, not so much 😅

Look a new one, which I think supports both ideas: some white on the dress, and crafty toe makes for a good look: https://royalportraitsgallery.com/home/the-king-and-queen-of-the-netherlands-present-appeltjes-van-oranje-2022

I agree, when the shoe is pared back to almost sandal proportions it becomes quite pretty. It's just a feature of a full white court shoe that it has a tendency to make the feet look bigger.

What a work of art this dress is, I love the cut and style of it so much. Its beautiful in its subtle simplicity. The length is perfect, gorgeous splash of red color. The sleeves blend down to the seam of the waist effortlessly. Front and back view equally fetching. The diamond and citrine earrings are very pretty and blend well. The bone white shoes, unfortunately, I don't like at all. They appear large.

I have to agree with you Ava. The shoes look too big and loose for Letizia's feet. I've noticed this with some of her other shoes. Maybe her feet have shrunk over the years but she keeps buying the same size,

Don't some ladies buy a larger size for comfort sometimes? Not the best idea which white courts which come bulky looking anyway
