Each year, on 8th May, 189 countries mark the anniversary of the birth of Henry Dunant, founder of the humanitarian organization.
The event serves to highlight the importance of the staff and volunteers of these two organizations, which save lives and assist vulnerable communities worldwide. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent is the largest humanitarian network in the world.
Her Majesty stepped out in a familiar look we first saw her wear at the welcome ceremony for the President of China and his wife last November.
The outfit consists of the ASOS DESIGN midi dress with pretty floral and bird embroidery (US$119), teamed with dusty pink suede accessories by Magrit.
The custom dusty pink pieces by Magrit are based off the brand's 'Ivy' clutch and 'Ivonne' pumps.
Letizia finished the ensemble with her Coolook 'Sarin' earrings (€167), and we saw the return the mystery gold open oval shaped ring which she debuted last month at the post-ceremony lunch of the 'Miguel de Cervantes' award.

Yes that's right. I meant, we first saw this ensemble for the welcome ceremony, but not necessarily the individual pieces. I hope that makes sense x

I thought this dress was perfect for the Chinese state visit, I didn't expect to see it again just where it was so fitting for the official welcome. It's not my personal taste, it's too pretty but it is certainly spring like and a nice change from the more formal looks worn previously at this event. These exact accessories were worn last time, I think the Magrit set works really well, anything darker may have weighed the look down. I can't think of better alternatives in Letizia's current collection. Different jewellery would have been nice though, perhaps the Tous ruby, emerald and moonstone earrings. A great event, the Queen looks very happy to be there and the violinist Ara Malikian was amazing!

Hi Wendy, I did a quick search of the cherry blossoms in Jerte Valley, it looks breathtaking. I would imagine the landscape looks incredible again in July with the intense red of all the cherries!

She had weared this dress on the reception of China President maybe by the chinese design inspiration, and probably now she weared it because it's an Asos dress, on this particularry sadeness day for the onwer of Asos. Great touch.

For an ordinary Asos dress that is incredibly pretty with all the bird and flower decoration. I suppose leaving the back plain was a way of keeping the price down?! The two-tone Sarin earrings are very handy when you want to accessorise flowers and leaves. A good all-round working outfit.

Yes, leaving the back plain would be a way to keep the price down. However, I was in India recently and noted that the Punjabi suits that many of the women wear, usually have a design only on the front. Whether it is a print, or embroidery, or some sort of trim, it is not there when one turns around. So perhaps a design element that we don't see everywhere.

The first time I saw this dress I didn't really like it as I found it too busy. This time around I have a renewed appreciation for the embroidery. The design and workmanship are exquisite-really beautiful. But I would rather see it on a tablecloth or wall hanging rather than a dress where it can really be enjoyed for its artistry. It's just too much for an item of clothing in my opinion.

The colour and pattern are ideal for spring. The embroidery, most likely computer generated, to be mass produced cheaply on this dress is a way of bringing one of the cultural practices of the Far East to the West. That would not happen if it is only displayed in a private setting. The same reasoning can be applied when museums loan paintings to each other so that people on the other side of the world can see them.

This is a pretty feminine, flowing dress. The colours are so soft, suits the Queen well. She looks beautiful. I love the understated accessories, anything more would have been too much.

Always interesting to watch the Queen at work. Besides the fashion, she finds a way to bring the talented people she meets into future acts. Most of the Red Cross workers would probably not be able to afford concert tickets for this violinist, but the family attended his concert last summer, and here he is at one of her biggest events of the year.
