The Queen of Spain visited the Royal Monastery of the Incarnation (Real Monasterio de la Encarnacion) in Madrid  today to see the renovation works carried out to better accommodate people with physical and visual disabilities.
The works were completed with the cooperation of the Royal Board on Disability, the Board of Directors of the National Heritage, and the ACS Foundation.

Her Majesty brought back the glamorous green Sandro pleated dress for the outing which she debuted in December at the closing seminar of the 2nd International Congress.

Rendered in a lightweight twill with a satin-like finish, this green midi dress is patterned in a paisley print reminiscent of silk scarves.

I didn't expect to see this Sandro dress again ( just where I considered it a festive piece - the Queen last wore it in December) I am pleasantly surprised at how strikingly fresh it looks for spring. I love the crisp pleats, the silhouette and beautiful emerald colour. I can imagine that this dress feels quite luxurious to wear. However, I am not entirely convinced on the placement of the print from the waist down, the negative curved space across the hip area throws me. I think I would have tried to sensitively follow the print lines down from the bodice. The Queen looks very chic with the Carolina Herrera draped over her shoulders, the black works well to ground the outfit. I am pleased that she mostly went without a clutch, it's an unnecessary distraction against the clean lines. The simplicity of the Gold & Rose double dagger earrings, natural hair and makeup - which look particularly lovely today all work well to create an elegant glossy look.

I reckon almost everybody thinks the same about the print around the hip area. I love the emerald colour .

Hi Wendy, such a beautiful colour! I would love to see the Queen in more green, it's my favourite colour and looks wonderful on her. Some of my favourite looks have been green; the Carolina Herrera printed dress 08/05/17, the olive cape dress 6/02/17 and the Felipe Valerla hunter green cocktail dress 29/11/16 are all gorgeous!

I agree Jennifer and Wendy about the print in the hip area. To me it looks like a big frown. The print is colourful, exotic and interesting and surely the skirt part could have been executed better. Otherwise Letizia looks well put together.

I agree with you people about the freshness of the emerald green and how well it suits Letizia. It must be the reason she's looking good here despite the curious arrangement of the skirt pattern and the heavy coat.

Elections time in Spain so since today that she is visiting Burgos, until the 28th April the Monarchy does not appeat to not influence. That day she will be in Mozambique.

Love the coat worn originally belted. Looks ridiculous worn draped over the shoulder. Not just this coat. Any coat worn draped over the shoulder is not a good look.

I'm still unable to warm to this strange Sandro dress and its oddly drooping pattern. So I suppose I should be grateful for having a Herrera overcoat draped over the top of it, but then I find myself frustrated at what seems to be a growing trend for wearing coats like this. It looks heavy and awkward to me, I don't think a sturdy outer-garment lends itself naturally to a relatively lightweight use as little more than an accessory. Is this something Meghan has launched as a fashion, or was it in general use much before she embraced it? I'm a bit sad as I like the coat very much when worn in the accustomed manner. Not a winning look all round for me!

Hi Bertie, Crown Princess Mary often wears her Joseph Oslo cashmere coat like a cape too. The fabric could well be lighter though. It does seem to be a growing trend.

Thanks for pointing that out Jennifer, I hadn't noticed Princess Mary doing it as well. Looks like we're in for a long season of shrugged-on coats then! It's not so bad with shorter plain jewel neck coats but I struggle when there are flapping belts and collars and maybe heavy pocket flap embellishment as per storm-resistant outerwear.

My mother and my grandma used to wear the coat as a cape also, it is a back in the day fashion that has come back, as it seems.

I have seen Melania doing it lately, too.

Thanks for pointing that out, Wendy, it is a very Melania thing isn't it? I don't often focus on her fashion as I find some of her choices a bit strange, but now you mention it I can clearly recall her doing this :)

Brilliant research, Simone, thank you so much! Of course, Maxima has the swagger to carry off exaggerated outfit ideas with ease, and the pics of Melania showcase her own aptitude with this style. And even Anna Wintour is in on this trend - I feel very fully informed now! :)

I adore this dress, the colour, the pattern, the material...it is one of a kind. The Carolina Herrera coat is very beautiful, so feminine...but I also, like some others, don't like when the coat is worn like a cape.

This is my favorite dress of hers and it's perfection. Would love to wear something like this!
